Or they used the same recording they used before the promise was made. John Clay, the Programming Director there, is very good about answering and solving complaints so I'd be sure to drop him a line like Tacomalo did.

During the first several months, AT40 shows were based upon the following week's Hot 100. The first show was broadcast on the week of July 4 1970 but used the chart for the "week ending July 11, 1970"
At some point in 1971 (From what I have heard, it was the first weekly countdown of May), AT40 began counting down on the basis of the week the show was aired. For example an AT40 broadcast on May 15, 1971 would use the chart ending that same week.
In the last month of the Shadoe Stevens era, Jan 1995, American Top 40 went in the other direction and the shows were based on the previous weeks chart(by this time AT40 was using the Mainstream Top 40 Airplay Billboard chart).
For more information on this, check out our own Rob Durkee's book "American Top 40: The Countdown of the Century". The book is a must for all fans of American Top 40 as is Pete's book "American Top 40: the 1970s"

The following Libraries should have copies of Radio and Records that will have the charts you are looking for, probably all are on microfilm: Phoenix Public Library Denver Public Library Library of Congress (Washington) Southern University-New Orleans New York Public Research Library Nashville Public Library Atlanta University Center Georgia State University Library Ohio University Southern Campus Chicago Public LIbrary Boston Public Library Just remember that CT40 is approximately 1-2 weeks behind. You can also find Radio and Records chart data at: www2.uta.edu/hunt/charts/chart.html

Also some songs charted on the Year Ends twice:
Just a few that I can remember:
On Bended Knee (1994 and 1995) All I Wanna Do (1994 and 1995) Please Forgive Me (1993 and 1994) Waterfalls (1995 and 1996) Semi Charmed Life (1997 and 1998)-Casey even referred to this in 1998 without mentioning "Casey's Top 40" instead saying "a second year end show". By the end of 1998, Casey had restarted American Top 40 and Casey's Top 40 had been taken off the air.

North Korea would almost certainly have never carried CT40 or any countdown show for that matter. From what I have read, radioes there were adjusted by the authorities so that only state radio could be heard and anyone attempting to readjust the radioes so that other stations could be heard would be in big trouble, so that rules out listening to any CT40 broadcasts from South Korea, Japan, China, etc.
As of June 1990, the Soviet Union didn't broadcast American Top 40 (and probably not Casey's Top 40 either). I went to Moscow for two months then to study the Russian language and took a copy of the AT40 1989 YE that I had recorded off radio(I wasn't aware of Casey's Top 40's existence at that time). Some of the Russian friends I made while there heard the show and after I explained what it was, they became really interested. Perhaps they were among those who would successfully request the airing of AT40 in the former Soviet Union in the early 1990s

In addition to AT40, Premiere also holds the rights to Casey's Top 40.

I remember that I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard that AT40 shows were going to be rebroadcast, thinking beforehand that they never would see the light of day again. So, if that happened, then we cannot rule out the possibility of CT40 being rebroadcast at some point in the future. I guess it all depends upon whether WW1 or whoever currently owns the rights to CT40 chooses to do so and, if they do, when.

After reading Rob's book, I have always wondered how Casey may have thought about the end of American Top 40 with Shadoe in 1995. I don't think it would be in Casey's nature to jump and shout HURRAH on a Casey's Top 40 broadcast about this but in light of ABC Watermark's failure (or even willingness on the part of some officials for Casey to leave) to retain him in 1988, I wonder what Casey's opinions were concerning the failure of AT40 to remain on the air at that time and whether he expressed them to anyone else.

Casey gave the fax number and the email address on the July 29, 1995 show so it was definitely before then.

Now that XM 70s and XM 80s has American Top 40 with Casey, the next step would be for XM 90s to broadcast either Casey's Top 40, American Top 40 with Shadoe, or both.
What do the rest of you think about the idea?
