I have lived in the Memphis area all my life and I do remember hearing the song being played by Rick before it charted. After "Disco Duck" started its climb up the chart, it was rarely, if ever, played on any of the Memphis radio stations that I listened to (WHBQ 56 AM, WMPS, or WMC FM 100). Memphis didn't have AT40 at that time so I didn't hear it there.

Please Premiere consider giving us anything from the 90s/2000s! I would be one of those who would applaud Premiere if they did so, but I'll only believe it when I hear them announce it themselves. If you're interested, I'd suggest emailing Premiere and let them know---couldn't hurt.

"Blessed" peaked at #2 in Jan-Feb 1996 on Casey's Hot 20 (kept out of #1 by "One Sweet Day") so it was a big hit on the R&R Hot AC chart.

I WISH WE COULD GO BACK TO THE OLD LAYOUT!!!
In any case, "Start the Car" was heard on CT40 in 1992---maybe also on AT40(which was using the Top 40 Radio Monitor at the time)

I have a question of my own about Rick Dees’ WT40 I always wanted to know. When was the first episode (exact weekending date) he switched from CashBox chart to using R&R chart? I have a vague idea it was around early 1985, but not sure. He had done so by the show ending January 26, 1985--that show counted down the top songs "according to Radio and Records Magazine" as noted at the end of the show.

Believe did hit #1 on Billboard's Hot 100. However, after, Nov 23 1991, AT40 no longer used that chart. By 1999, AT40 was using Radio and Records and "Believe" only reached #2 there.

Better yet, let her replace Ryan on American Top 40.

Perhaps it was driven more by sales than airplay in 1989. Try looking at the separate sales and airplay breakdowns of the Hot 100. If it ranked high on the airplay chart, then perhaps R&R had some policy that kept "Into the Night" from recharting in 1989.

Yes, whenever I hear "Love You Inside and Out", I pay close attention to the verse beginning with "Don't Try to Tell Me It's All Over" and replace it with lyrics along the line of:
Don't Try To Tell Me It's All Over" We will never have another #1 Our Next Song will be "He's a Liar" And it won't even get into the Top 20.

I can back up what Paul said about Ryan being more in tune with the new generation.
I'm a college history instructor and was teaching US History since the Civil War a few years ago. Before class I was talking about my AT40 collection and the fact that I use AT40 to help remember recent history. I asked my students what they thought of Casey Kasem? Only one of my older students even remembered who he was (she thought well of him). When I asked them if they knew Ryan Seacrest, all of them answered and lot had positive things to say about him.
In short, Ryan may not be the best choice for host from among those of us who remember Casey well (from my username you can guess how I feel) but for those in their teens and twenties, Ryan is their choice (even though he's a bit older than they are).

^sorry Caseyfan... but Percy Faith's "Theme from A Summer Place" is better than all those others combined. Blame my late grandmother. She loved classical music and played that song all the time and kept telling me that it was big on the day I was born. By the time I was 10, I was sick of that song. If only I had been born a bit earlier or later, "Teen Angel" or "Running Bear" would have been #1 and since they were pop songs, my grandmother would've left me alone.

Four for me while Casey was counting down Pop (Jul 1970-Jan 2004):
1978 (#1: Stayin Alive-Bee Gees) 1984 (#1: Jump-Van Halen) 1989 (#1 CT40: Lost in Your Eyes-Debbie Gibson, #1 AT40: Straight Up-Paula Abdul) 1995 (#1 CT40: Take A Bow-Madonna)
Sure like those better than the #1 on the day I was born (Theme From A Summer Place-Percy Faith)

Neither 4/04/87 nor 4/11/87 has ever been rebroadcast. Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" was #1 both weeks.

Danielle was also active with New Radicals---she sang background on their top 40 hit "Someday We'll Know" I think she appears in the video which is linked below: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDmA8qQKhMYThe song was played on AT40 beginning July 17, 1999.
