Please check your facts before believing something from TMZ. I don't think that Casey or his wife Jean would act like this. Sounds like gossip to me and needs to be verified before we accept it as true. Let's wait until Rob, Scott, Pete or Shannon comment further.

#21-"I Could Never Miss You"-Lulu-The only Lulu song the oldies/greatest hits play is "To Sir With Love"-Why don't they give this one a spin?
They did on the Sept 5, 1981 show-there you'd hear both "To Sir With Love" and "I Could Never Miss You" but Casey doesn't mention that in either the intro or outro to either song.

Just found a good way to level the playing field in a Top of the 1990s chart.....I found that by compiling inverse points for each week in the top 40, giving bonus points to #1 and applying the 20/20 rule retroactively from 4/30/94 to 6/26/99 (Radio and Records began using it for the AT40 7/03/99 chart---songs that are below #20 after the 20th week are removed from the chart) and multiplying the resulting points of songs that fell off before 4/30/94 by 3/2. The chart that results has two songs from the pre-4/30/94 era in the top 10 (one in the top 5). The chart is printed below (these are only songs that reached #1): 100. Ordinary World-Duran Duran (1993)-731 pts 99. Let Her Cry-Hootie and the Blowfish (1995)-731 pts 98 Love Will Lead You Back-Taylor Dayne (1990)-731 pts 97. Under The Bridge-Red Hot Chili Peppers (1992)-732 pts 96. Uninvited-Alanis Morissette (1998)-734 pts 95. When A Man Loves A Woman-Michael Bolton (1991)-738 pts 94. Nobody Knows-Tony Rich Project (1996)-738 pts 93. Love Will Never Do Without You-Janet Jackson (1991)-744 pts 92. It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday-Boyz II Men (1991)-746 pts 91. Are you talking about Casey's Top 40? There are some people who have all but a few of those shows. For me, I'm missing 12/5/92, 1/2/93, 2/20/93, 7/17/93, 4/9/94. Anyone who has any of these, will get whatever they need in exchange.

I guess you could level the playing field a bit by retroactively invoking the 20/20 rule on 90s songs. The 20/20 rule, which states that songs that fall below 20 after their 20th week automatically fall off the chart, was invoked by R/R and AT40 in July 1999. Since few, if any songs, charting before April 30, 1994 spent more than 20 weeks on the chart, they would not be affected, whereas songs afterward would. I've already done this on songs from May 1995 to Jun 1999. I can give it a try and see what I would come up with but I'm not sure it would do much since songs from April 30, 1994 and after often spent most of their chart life in the top 20.
There are other ways to level the playing field. Maybe we could think of some.

Jimmy are you sure that the bonus show will be the "Top 40 of the 1990s"? There was another special from that week, the Y2K countdown that highlights the 40 days that changed Rock Music. That would probably fit in better, although, I hope you're right. If so, maybe Premiere is testing the waters for an AT40: The 1990s, although it remains to be seen how it will work since AT40 was off the air from Feb 1995 to Mar 1998. Would they focus on American Top 40 (combination of Casey and Shadoe shows) or on Casey (CT40 covering 1990-Feb 1998 and AT40 Mar 1998-1999)

Didn't know there was an agreement concerning posting about this subject. Don't want to cause problems but would like to see what's going on

Last year, those who love Lulu were in for a treat, Premiere rebroadcast the 9/05/81 and, assuming that they played the archive songs, you could hear both "To Sir With Love" AND "I Could Never Miss You".

Drastic droppers from #1 (out of the top 10) were much more common in the 1970s---from 1980 on, in most cases, songs didn't fall from #1 to any position lower than #7 or #8

If you or your library has access to Worldcat, they can find sources for R&R---perhaps you can get the issues you want through Inter Library Loan

I don't know what's happened (8:28 PM CDT) Friday, July 19) but a new interface appeared that is similar to that before the recent update. MUCH BETTER!!!

Problem with July 1987 is that there are only 2 eligible shows---Jul 4 (regular) and Jul 25. Jul 11 and 18 were hosted by Charlie Van Dyke. The July 4 special "Top 40 hits of the 80s so far" HAS been played by Premiere.

My most favorite show from the first half of the 80s is one that Premiere will never air: May 26, 1984. Maybe Premiere didn't air it but XM did in 2007. The only time (so far) that a non Casey hosted show (Charlie Van Dyke was host for the 5/26/84) was aired by them at any time thus far. Kinda strange since there were 3 other shows from that month that were Casey hosted, only one of which (5/19/84) has been rebroadcast (by Premiere).
