I've no knowledge right now of stations in my area, but here's my guess – and I've said the same thing on the AT40 70s and 80s pages – so here goes:
• Adult contemporary stations will be far more likely to choose to carry the AT10 Book of Record special, since these stations are the ones that have the 1990s and 2000s songs in their libraries.
• Classic hits and oldies stations will probably stick with the 1977 and 1983 programs, or perhaps even pick the "Top 40 Hits of the Beatles" special. While you may get one or two stations that could pick up the AT10 show, and you get the occasional oldies/classic hits station that has a good number of 1990s-later songs along with the 1960s-1980s catalog, it's way, way, WAY more likely that you'll hear the regular AT40 programs or the Beatles special.
FWIW, a year ago, KOKZ (Waterloo-Cedar Falls) played the "AT40 Top Acts of the 1970s II," even though it was not one of the two choices offered for 2012 Fourth of July (those being the "Top 40 Hits of the Rock Era 1955-1972" and "Top 40 Disco Hits").
Without knowing exactly what will actually happen, my guess is this will happen:
• KOKZ will play 1977 and 1983, like usual, and possibly at some point play the Beatles special. • KMCH (Manchester) will choose the 1977 show, like normal, with an outside chance of the Beatles. • KMXG (Clinton-Quad Cities) will at some point play the "AT10 Book of Records" special, more likely on Saturday since that day is focused on 1980s-later music. Perhaps this may be aired on the Fourth of July, even. And then on Sunday, the 1977 show as usual. Who knows, we may even get the Beatles, although KMXG doesn't really focus on oldies from the 1960s and earlier.
Again, those are mere guesses.

My guess is that a fairly small percentage of subscribing stations will air the AT10 special. While it's not a bad show in terms of the songs, I would think most stations are going to stick with the regular show. It's somewhat akin to the AT10 Christmas specials in December...even with all those stations that have switched to 24/7 Xmas music, it's hard to find the alternate AT10 Christmas specials being aired.
Besides, any PD who would choose to preempt either of the two regular shows being offered this weekend should be fired. Both 7/9/77 and 7/9/83 are downright fantastic shows.

I actually find a lot of stations playing the AT10 Christmas shows in December; by the time we get close to Christmas it's sometimes been difficult to find the regular (usually 1970s) AT40 being played at a convenient time. Premiere made that easier last year by giving everyone the 1971 Christmas countdown the last weekend before the holiday.

Wouldn't shock me one bit if KOOL-FM in Halifax decides to play a 1983 episode this weekend.

^^ American Independence and they're featuring the No 1 British Band of all time....HUH!! They saved the special for the 4th because it originally aired July 4, 1981.

WJER's website says they're playing the Book of Records show after the Indians game Saturday evening but their "record" for reliability isn't good. www.wjer.com/

Maybe, but usually this time of the year most people at radio stations take a holiday off, and it's usually the time "special" programming airs. My guess is that there will be few, if any, live on-air jockeys at KOKZ – and like at many other stations – everything will either be voice-tracked or pre-programmed with specials and music with no on-air jockeys. Interesting that Casey mentioned Madonna making the top 40 for 24 years in a row. Elton John had the record even with the R&R charts being the basis for some of these records. Must have been that Madonna's streak was still going although this is the year it would end and that they had already played an Elton song.
Then he played the Prince song. But mentioned his name change instead of his making the top 10 for 12 years in a row. I thought that was a record at least in 1994 and maybe still in 2007. "The Most Beautiful Girl" happens to be the song that gave him a top 10 in 12 consecutive years too.
