Although I havent heard it yet(the show is still recording as I type this), American Top 10 has indeed flipped to an all Christmas format. So, in addition to the Christmas shows....the at10.com website is also current again. My only hope with these shows is that they dont repeat the same ones from last year plus a couple of new ones.

Well, I am currently listening to American Top 10 Holidays. No "Christmas Countdown" this week....just a Holiday playlist with DJ Casey Kasem. Since I did not have an AT10 affiliate last year and only heard a few minutes of an AT10 Holiday show via webcast, the shows will all be new to me if they are reruns of last year's holiday shows. Kind of weird to look outside my dorm window this morning seeing all of the bright fall colors, getting ready to head out to go to the final football game of the year for our Division III schedule, and still seeing old pumpkins on the neighbor's porch -- and hearing "Here Comes Santa Claus" and "Happy Holidays". I know my local AC station is not all-Christmas yet, and I was wondering if they would simply replay last weekend's regular countdown this weekend, but they are running AT10 Christmas. It's just TOO EARLY. And, I don't know how many stations have currently flipped, but it really does NOT seem like all that many compared to last year. I think AT10 could have benefited from producing the regular shows for this weekend and next, and flipping to the all-Christmas shows for the post-Thanksgiving weekend and on. But, what do I know? Right now, Casey just played a "Christmas movie clip" of Will Ferrell's "Elf", so it is pretty current. Happy....err...November 12th!!!

One more note -- it seems a lot of the older songs being played (ie, Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree) are the covers that have been remade in the last few years.
Also - Casey is NOT introing and outroing every song. There was just a dead segue out of the last song into Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree.

he doesnt intro and outro every song on these type shows, when he does the set of music he backtracks and tells you what you heard.

Yes, American Top 10 has started the Christmas shows. It started one week earlier than last year. In 2004, the AT10 Christmas shows started on the 11/19-20 weekend.
This show was a new one, with the movie and TV clips. The only time Casey intros and outros the songs are during the optional segments, the segments that end with no jingle.
By the way, WRVF in Toledo, was playing their normal AC music right up to the Saturday 7am AT10 start time. Then AT10 run as usual with the Christmas show. When AT10 ended about 10:10 am, WRVF switched to the Christmas format.
My understanding WVMX has switched to Christmas music. I'm sure AT20 won't return until 2006. Does WVMX switch to AT10 Christmas shows during the holidays?

Speaking of WRVF, thats the station I recorded the show from since I no longer have a local AT10 affiliate after I moved. Did anyone notice that for some reason the show aired one segment from the Top 30 Christmas songs of all time (I assume from last year) during the show? Casey outrod the tease for the "next" segments Little Drummer Boy. The next segment was like #18 and 17 from the all time Christmas countdown, followed by a commercial and then returned with the proper AT10 segment. Once again, a mistake in which there is absolutely no excuse no matter who was at fault; I would assume it was a Premiere mistake, you cant tell me the radio station had last years Christmas countdown sitting around somewhere.
I really don't know when or if I will ever listen to this years AT10 Christmas shows. I don't believe in listening to this stuff until Christmas Eve usually, but as most of you football fanatics know, the NFL has moved the regular schedule for that week to Christmas Eve Saturday rather than playing on Christmas Day. There are only two games scheduled Christmas Day. So, I guess I will have to extend my Christmas listening to sometime that week before. But even then, I won't have the Christmas countdown because I am sure part 2 won't air until Christmas weekend as opposed to the strange turn of events last year.

I just listened to WLTW which I recorded on my computer. They are not airing the special AT10 Christmas shows. According to the on air personality AT10 will return on January 1 with the top 30 of the year. Does that mean they will air the complete 3 hour show after Jan 1? I will e-mail them and let you know.

They are probably just running the year-end special as a 3 hour show on New Years Day. While a nice dream, I bet it goes back to a 1 hour show on January 8.
If WLTW isn't flipping to all-Christmas, I would think maybe AT10 would still produce the custom Top 10 AC hits countdown show for them. Casey recorded it special for them the week Charlie Tuna subbed back in October. I would think maybe he would again now. I still think it is still too early to 'pull' the regular version of AT10, as there are many affiliates that have not flipped. Having the option for both at least through Thanksgiving would be a good move, IMO.

My only hope with these shows is that they dont repeat the same ones from last year plus a couple of new ones. I had a hope they would at least repeat the old Christmas Shows for the month of November and give the non Christmas-Music-Affiliates a chance to air a current programme. But instead of acting customer friendly with at least 2 more weeks of the regular AT10, they blame half of their affiliates. Many stations had to replay last weekends show, or drop it for this weekend. That's what I found out during my weekend research. Clear Channel Stations are the be-all and end-all in radio and the holiest radio stations in the country. They can do a customized version for CC radio, but not in a special situation like pre-christmas in November. Thank you Premiere !!!

If I ran a station I would wind up keeping all the shows from the year and run "Best of" AT10 until Christmas Eve when I would run all the Christmas shows straight. Thats what I did last year and what I will do thi year but I will probably start Dec. 22 or so since the NFL is playing its full slate on Christmas Eve this year.
The aggravating thing is it's not CC stations dictating policy, it's worse than that. Its a select few CC stations dictating it. Theres like 4 or 5 AC stations airing AT10 that have gone All Christmas music now so the show flips too.

This is a surprise. I can almost understand them not running the show this past weekend and next weekend, but WLTW is slated to flip to all-Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving. So there is NO reason to not run the Christmas shows at that point.

Off topic, but anyone else planning on opening up the presents under the tree Christmas morning with Casey on in the background? This is the first time Christmas has fallen on a Sunday since I have become a fan of the shows. Usually we put whatever station is commercial free and all-Christmas while doing the whole Christmas Morning under the tree thing. But this year, either the AT10 Christmas Show or Part 1 of the AT20 year-end countdown will be our Christmas Morning soundtrack this year.
I can picture it now. Fire being built, Christmas all around us, going through the stockings, admiring the tree, watching the snow fall, getting ready for the relatives to arrive, and Casey on the radio saying "coming in at XX for the year here's Gwen Stefani with Hollaback Girl!"

I did check the Canadian stations that air AT10, Majic 100 from Ottawa and Q92 from Montreal. On 11/13/05, both stations replayed the AT10 show with the theme, songs with 'night' in the title.
I'm sure some of the listeners were confused on playing a rerun of AT10. They probably thought the station goofed, and aired the wrong show. They probably didn't know Casey went all Christmas on AT10.
I'll bet when Magic 100 and Q92 received the 11/13 AT10 show being all Christmas, thought those people in the states were are bunch of hosers. Thus, they played a rerun of AT10. I'll wonder what Magic 100 and Q92 will handle AT10 this weekend.

Was that last week's show that was re-run? Guess this all falls under the department of "good thing the AC chart doesn't change much!"

I am sure stations not owned by CC or not in the USA had look on their faces when they recieved the show. I dont blame them for rerunning old shows, knowing the show like I do as I said earlier, I would keep all the ones from the year around in a safe place and run older shows for the rest of the year.
