After 4 years and 135 replies, shouldn't we finally close out nominations and declare which song is The Most Butchered Song In AT40 History?

Foreigner should change the name of their tune to Hot Butchered after what was done to it this week in 1978. So you're saying it was "Hot butchered / listen and see / it had a running time / of 1:03"?

Not butchered, but related...Casey coming in very early - IMO way too early - on a fade.
I just heard him do that on Undercover Angel the week it hit #1. Didn't seem fair. Guys, let the record have it's day in the sun.

Premiere paid tribute to Gary Wright this weekend by trimming Love Is Alive down to 2 minutes!

C&T Never got butchered Like That... 1:45?? It was so short it should have just been Captain. Needless to say, this 1978 show desperately needs Supersizing!!

10/1/1977 for AT40: The 70's has the 1:30 butchered Barry White "It's Esctasy When You Lay Down Next to Me" - Hope the supersized WTOJ version has the complete single version in it!

Considering they did this nearly every week, I propose we declare it the "winner" as most butchered. always amazed me that AT40 'butchered' it so badly on this show, its debut week, especially after the big buildup that Casey gave it in the intro as the highest-debuting record during the first nine months of 1977. Pretty sure it held on to that title through the last three months of the year.

Hopefully,Ken Martin will feature "It's Esctasy" in its entirety tomorrow when WTOJ airs the supersized version of 10/1/77. It will be the 3-4 minute single version and not the 6-ish minute album version of "It's Esctasy". Just think, if Shadoe Stevens AT40 shows ever got rerun, would "The Humpty Dance", "O.P.P.", "Enter Sandman", and "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" get supersized for their single versions or just stay in their edited/butchered versions? I also know "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix a Lot and "Tennessee" by Arrested Development were butchered for AT40 airing but not very short as these 4 others I mentioned.

It seems like every time I heard it during its run, This Time I'm In It For Love was just slaughtered, including this week's 1978 show. Even though the Player single edit ran only 3:25, I guess this is an indication of just how squeezed for time the AT40 staff was pre 4hr expansion. I guess the American Top Filler staff was trying to make amends this week in 1978 when they played the marathon album cut of Prisoner of Your Love.

Guys, let the record have it's day in the sun. He did that once with "Invisible Touch" by Genesis, starting his outro right after the bridge... extremely awkward sounding.

The King of butchering... Ronnie McDowell's tribute was sliced to pieces on the 1977 show!

I'm still trying to find out what happened with that Thanksgiving Day invitation with Nancy, Bob, Lisa, Tom and Grandpa on As The World Turns, but every time I watch the episode on YouTube, Walter Cronkite cuts in.
