I hope JT got a picture of the person that butchered his 'Roof this week in 1979. That might have been the most uncalled for hatchet job ever since it was still American Top Filler at this point, < one year after expansion to 4 hours should have made these kinda slicings unnecessary.

Add this week's 1977 show to the long list needing Supersizing. H&O and Addrisi Bros got seriously razor bladed and we barely got to 'Bump for 90 seconds. Assume based on the date of your post that you're referring to the 6/18/77 show and I couldn't agree more. This show IMO included one of the best song lists of 1977, but so many of the best songs were edited. It was as if every time a great song came on, there was that buzzkill of it going from the first verse and chorus to the bridge or the end part of the song...

Add this week's 1978 show to the long list needing Supersizing. The entire first hour was an embarrassment.
1980 wasn't immune. Why did they bother to play Elt in the top three recap if they were gonna brutalize his Jeannie like that??

I hope Arthur got the name of the person that butchered his Theme this week in 1981. Another head scratcher < 2 years after expansion to 4 hours should have put an end to this senseless brutality.

Arthur was drunk so he didn't notice it. I didn't either, surprisingly. The most noticeable 'butchering' among the three Premiere shows ('72.'76, '81) and the Sirius-XM '73 show that I noticed was the Ohio Players' much abbreviated hoochie-coo session on the '76 offering. Not counting the mercifully shortened (and cleaned-up) "Uneasy Rider" on Sirius' selection.

Casey said in the 1973 show that “Uneasy Rider” had 70 lines worth of lyrics, as many as in any song he could remember, and we ironically didn’t get to hear all of them.

The full LP track has 90--30 verses of 3 lines each. Dylan has had a couple top 40 songs whose full unedited versions either tie it or exceed it: "Tangled Up In Blue" also has 90 lines, while "Hurricane" has 99, if the lyric sites are accurate. Can't think of any others. "Wreck Of the Edmund Fitzgerald" only has 56 lines!

I hope Arthur got the name of the person that butchered his Theme this week in 1981. Arthur was drunk so he didn't notice it. "Not everyone who drinks is a poet. Some of us drink because we're not poets." (From the proposal scene. I have that entire movie rememberized.)

They even butchered the title of the song the week it debuted. "The Best That You Can". No Do. Not to be confused with No Can Do. Or Can Do. Hey I just realized, Can Do is about a horse, and No Can Do was sung by Oates. I could have used that joke 40 years ago. Oh well. It's actually called Fugue for Tinhorns, so maybe it's good I didn't think of that back then. I mean the song from Guys and Dolls. Not the other one. I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) is NOT actually called Fugue for Tinhorns. To my knowledge.

The guys got That Butchered Feeling this week in 1980. And How Did Amy Holland Survive the razor blaze 4 hours should have made unnecessary?

At least AT40: The 80's 10/18/1986 show didn't butcher "The Way It Is" by Bruce Hornsby.

80s shows weren't immune to butchering. Diamond needs to take out his Heartlight and find who sliced up his song. It's embarrassing that went out over the air in 1982 and even more embarrassing in 2022.

The guys got That Butchered Feeling again this week in 1980. Somebody must have really been proud how they chopped up H&O on an earlier 1980 show so they played it again.

The endangered species act should prohibited what was done to LRB's 'Owls on next week's 1981 show!
