Nice tribute show. After listening to it, I dislike Jean even more with the way Casey's life ended.

Now that I figured out the posting procedure for this forum, here it goes . . .
I heard three separate broadcasts of the Kerri and Mike tribute to Casey, and there were some omissions/changes that were annoying.
The first broadcast was from WRIP, in rural New York state, Friday evening. I had the broadcast recorded, the audio was fair, but not good.
Attempting to get a good quality audio dub, I tuned to KLOU which uses iHeart Radio. In that broadcast, the show ended at the conclusion of Andrew Gold's song, "Thank You For Being A Friend". After that song, it seg'd to a station ID sounder, then an announcer came on to intro a song. The tribute program ended abruptly, with no closing comments from Kerri and Mike.
I then tuned to WODC, another IHeart Radio webcaster, and heard a third variation of the tribute program. The Neil Diamond song, "Desiree" was played in place of WRIP's "Babe" by Styx in the "Long Distance Dedication" segment.
The WODC audio was good, but iHeart messed with the Andrew Gold segment; this time at the conclusion of the song. Here is the transcription from the WODC broadcast (as said by Casey): "Thank You For Being A Friend' by Andrew Gold, a long distance dedication from Adam in Massachusetts" . . .with nothing more said by Casey. The station then seg'd to a sounder and promo.
It turns out that iHeart chopped that segment of Casey's by several words, the WRIP broadcast differed with additional words by Casey. Here's the WRIP broadcast version as follows (as spoken by Casey): "Thank You For Being A Friend' by Andrew Gold, a long distance dedication from Adam in Massachusetts, thanking us for 39 years."
It's extremely annoying that the various broadcasters had to dicker with the original production . . . and I guess because of concerns with spot sales and time constraints, various broadcasters could not leave the original production intact. If I was the executive producer of the tribute program, I'd be outraged by the tampering of the program by various broadcasters!

This was clarified yesterday and the correct and revised playlist was posted yesterday afternoon, on the same page (p. 5 of this thread); this was almost 17-18 hrs BEFORE your post based on this board’s time-counter. (I didn't listen to WRIP and have no idea about WRIP's playing of "Babe" by Styx though; maybe it was a local station's insert.) I have seen the cue sheets and these are indeed optional extras. Correcting and editing my playlist (above) from what Shadoe Fan said: Kerri & Mike Kasem’s tribute show playlist Songs played in full (in order by the segment): Pilot of the Airways-Charlie Dore Mama Told Me Not to Come-Three Dog Night Can’t Buy Me Love-Beatles (There’s Always) Something There to Remind Me-Naked Eyes Somewhere Out There-Linda Ronstadt and James Ingram Listen to the Music-The Doobie Brothers What a Wonderful World-Louis Armstrong The Best-Tina Turner Maybe I’m Amazed-Wings I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll-Joan Jett and The Blackhearts Home-Michael Bublé (*Optional Extra: This Kiss-Faith Hill) The Living Years-Mike + The Mechanics Every Breath You Take – The Police Desiree-Neil Diamond I Hope You Dance-Lee Ann Womack featuring Sons of the Desert Centerfield-John Fogerty When I See You Smile-Bad English On the Radio-Donna Summer Letter from Elaina-Casey Kasem My Father’s Eyes-Eric Clapton (*Optional Extra: Thank You for Being a Friend-Andrew Gold) Love Story-Taylor Swift Teach Your Children-Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

I haven't listened to it yet.....when I have some free time. like I said before, the AT40 classic channel audio was tolerable. Those broadcasters and their audio processing "boxes" tend to ruin a decent recording and why I like the original program audio. That's not to say there isn't processing on the original program audio, but what happens is when have processing on top of processing, like going down multiple tape generations, the quality degrades, even in the digital work. In the quest for sounding loud on a clock radio, broadcasters have sacrifice quality in dynamic range (those peaks and valleys in the wave form) which is natural in audio. I put the tribute audio I recorded into a wav editor and it's on big rectangle. That's what happened with a multiband brick wall limiter. It's a brick wall, NO audio gets about that point for level. It makes it louder, but at the loss of dynamics.

The whole "sounding loud" thing drives me bonkers. It ALWAYS results in clipping of audio, and is just awful. It's also incredibly annoying when switching from XM/CD/Aux in my car to FM because of how they crank up the levels. I understand WHY this practice goes on, but it is rather poor reasoning.

While I did enjoy their tribute show, Mike Kasem made an error in saying that "Every Breath You Take" by The Police was "The #1 song of The 80's", when it was only at #4 behind "Endless Love", "Bette Davis Eyes" and "Physical" on 7/4/87 "Top Hits of the 1980's So Far". Maybe he was thinking of Radio & Records? Casey himself hosted a decade-end countdown in December 1989 in which "Every Breath You Take" was #1, and Ryan Seacrest has said the same thing. Yep. AT40 in its 1998-2004 run went by R&R, so I guess that's what they used for Mike's stat. I heard Casey refer to "EBYT" as the #1 song of the 80s on an AT40 show at one point...possibly the Top 40 of the 1990s show.
