Since this decision was made very recently, would anyone care to speculate on how soon we might hear a 4-hour 1970s countdown show?
Thanks!

It won't be next week. It could be but should not be the week after that and should definitely not be week after that. So it is not likely to be in the next 3 weeks but any week afterward is definitely in play.

I can tell you that we won't be getting 1979 for the next two weeks for all I know (and since the 4/7/1979 show was guest-hosted, three weeks at least).

Is there a particular reason why a 1979 countdown cannot be aired either this weekend or the following weekend?

I wish we could get a set date so we can start the letter writing compaign and stations can start planning for this in their schedule. It would be a shame to have this known with short advance notice and stations rejecting the first hour by telling us they weren't informed in time.

That's good, since we haven't yet had an April, 1979 show. Hopefully, we'll get all the remaining months covered (June and September are the only two left besides April that haven't yet had a show run).

You have at least one radio station friend... When we finally hear a 1979 program later this month, Oldies 93.9 (Columbus, OH) will broadcast the entire show. Normally they start AT40/70s on Sunday mornings at 9am. For this month's 1979 show -- and future 4-hour broadcasts -- the station will start the program at 8am. Mike Eiland has previously asked AT40 fans to "Like" his blog. If you haven't yet, please do so. He was instrumental in seeing his station commit to airing the complete 4-hour programs. www.oldies933fm.com/pages/pp_mikeeiland.html

Any updates on stations other than Oldies 93.9 that will be playing all 4 hours of the countdown?

Any updates on stations other than Oldies 93.9 that will be playing all 4 hours of the countdown? I just e-mailed WODS and KKLZ. If they get back to me, I'll let you all know.

I can now confirm that (W)ORC-FM in Worcester, Mass. (www.myoldies989.com) will do all four hours. PD Jerry McKenna says the show will start that week Saturday at 6AM and Sunday at 6PM, an hour earlier.
Now off to the schedule page to update there...
