That's great news, effected a few shows annually. I want to hear them as they played back then, great step!

I don't understand why you think sending out only 3 hour shows makes no sense. You have to quit looking at it from an "I love American Top 40 with Casey Kasem, everyone else should too, and radio stations should consider running these reruns an honor" mentality. They don't consider it anything but a nuisance in many cases. Several either are or were at one time forced to carry it. Look at it from the standpoint of running a radio station. You choose to run the 70s show and air it at 6am Saturday morning. You are told its 3 hours long and you understand that losing some ad time during the show it's not the end of the world because you weren't making a hefty penny Saturday morning during that time anyway. You set your schedule for the 3 hour timeframe and sell advertising in it. You also have a system that downloads the show automatically into your system to air at the scheduled time. Now then Premiere decides to do 4 hour shows...not once or twice a year during special weekends, but just whenever. Then everything from downloading the show to scheduling everything becomes an issue. It's possible in the days before automation this could have been ok. Now, it's more trouble than it's worth. I love the show, love countdowns, and if I ran a station and they were doing 4 hour shows every so often with no rhyme or reason to it. I wouldn't air it. Although this is a quote from another thread, I think it is more fitting to place it here in light of the very exciting news we received. All I can say to the OP is thank goodness you aren't running any stations. To all true AT40 fans who dared to believe that all things are possible, we celebrate today.

I think we all need to email and ask for info about it to our closer or favourite AT40 70´s station , because, IMHO, we listeners are the ones who have to make a move. The stations are not going to give that info that easy if they are not going to be asked and we could not expect having a vague list of stations after 2 or 3 of those episodes . It´s time , IMHO, Premiere do someting clear, collect info from afilliates and make a list of stations . I have the feelling it´s always us, the listeners, the ones who care about the show, and we only have to listen to.

WMGN isn't going to carry the 4 hour versions of the 1979 shows

I predict that this year's year-end countdown will be the Top 50 Songs of 1979

This is great news. No more worry about abridged shows or "amputated" programs.

I just sent an e-mail to WBBG's PD asking what they're going to do.

I'm curious to know if stations will start the show an hour earlier or end an hour later if they're running the 4 hour version.

I'm pretty sure no one on this board would mind it, but this board is not indicative of PDs, DJs, and other radio station personnel.

But from my perspective, anyone who agrees with chopping up an original AT40 program even when they have the option of not doing so is not on the same page with me.

If that is true (which I don't necessarily agree with), then it sounds like those radio people are in the wrong business.

If that is true (which I don't necessarily agree with), then it sounds like those radio people are in the wrong business. That's why the show is heard in nearly every market in the USA and all, because PDs and staffers love it.... And now you are taking to telling folks who don't think like you they are in the wrong business?

I don't have to be on the same page with you. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't make me or anyone else less of a fan than you are. Let me help you out with my original question, I've been on this board since 2002. If I wasn't a true fan, that wouldn't be the case because I'd have never looked for it to begin with.
