Well, they've posted it on the site, so it's now official... premiereradio.com/shows/view/at40_70s.htmlThat's right. Due to popular demand from fans and stations alike, effective with the next time a show comes up in the rotation with a length that qualifies (I believe in April), Premiere will be offering AT40: The 70s affiliates the option to run all four hours of the show!

Awesome!!! ;D
I guess this means we've been making enough noise over the last couple weeks since the last 1979 episode! ;D

Truth be told, the decision was made before that. I just wasn't at liberty to disclose.

Now all we need to know is what stations with good streams will be airing the four-hour show!
Great news!

IMHO that option seems to be attractive for those station which have HD channels for offering extra contents. I mean, would be those stations giving the 4 hour shows online while HD channels are hard to find online and they are only possible in their coverage areas, terrestrial ?.

That's fantastic!! Guess it never hurts to keep beating that drum...
Did anyone besides me wonder if something was up based on Larry Morgan's opening of the Feb. 10, 1979 show? Sure sounded like he was opening a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th hour of a normal 4-hour show--instead of what we've heard at the start of all other Oct 78 - Dec 79 shows. Not sure if there was a correlation, but it would be a coincidence if there wasn't.
Guess we can speculate if Pete B's recent question about how to handle the 4-hour shows also was prompted by this change.

Yes, it looks like the last 79 show aired has already its 4 hour long version.
By the way Larry introduced the 1st hour last time they aired a 1979 show, I think the experiment was done then and that could be the 1st 1979 show with 4 hours. That would mean a station that opts for airing a show with 3 hours would have a starting like that. I think Premiere will serve the 4 hour show and stations will decide to start the show from hour 1 or hour 2.

It sure sounded that way and that is what I said at the time based on his second hour of the original show, first hour of the show all of us heard introduction. Looks like if it was presented as a 4 hour show to some affiliates, none of us caught those affiliates. I listened to a couple international stations too. So most of the bases were covered as far as stations were concerned. Anyway, that's water under the bridge. We will have to see what happens in a few weeks. I doubt that every or even most stations will carry the 4 hour show but it's kind of a moot point with the internet. Great news indeed.

I think that also explains why none of the optional extras feature songs from the first hour.

This is indeed fabulous news, since we all know that there's no such thing as too much of Casey Kasem, or 'The Caser' as he referred to himself from time to time on KRLA/Pasadena when I was growing up back in the sixties.
