I just read a message on XM411 ( a message board for xm radio fans) posted by Bruce Kelly, the PD for the 80's on 8 channel. He said that a deal is done to broadcast AT40 shows from the 70's and 80's on both the 70's and 80's decade channels on XM. Details and times will be announced soon according to the post. Full 4 hour AT40 shows, not 3 hour flashback shows, from the 80's were broadcast on XM for a brief time on XM in early 2003, right before I became a subscriber. I have read that the reason they stopped running the shows had to due with substantial rights fees owed to Billboard to use their charts. These fees had been covered by Premier Radio while the shows were being syndicated as AT40 Flashback, but when the show was cancelled, XM would not pay the fees. I think Bruce Kelly said they were in the 25 k range. I know I am not the only one who was upset to see the cancellation of AT40 Flashback. I would love to hear the 80's shows with hour number one included. I would also love to get the chance to hear the 70's shows for the first time. I have not been able to find any confirmation beyond this single post, but I have sent an e-mail to try to confirm that the message was posted by Bruce and is accurate. If anybody out has heard anything, please share.

That's good news indeed but the message was posted March 5 so this probably would take 3 to 6 months to get rolling.I'm particularly excited about the 70's show as Kurt had been kind enough to email me back to break the news way in advance about the real score about the cancellation of the AT40 1980's series back in 2002. (Kurt is 70's Channel PD.) Here's a couple of link to the site XM 411. Hope they work since its a bit difficult to navigate the sites: The link is under Decades Discussion: www.xm411.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=9www.xm411.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=14902&start=0 www.xm411.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=9

I checked XMfan.com, and I didn't see anything there. That would be cool if they did the show again, I would re-subscribe to the service then.

the straneg thing is when I say I would resubscribe to the service, I just cancelled it yesterday because I rarely listen. That would change if they do indeed add the shows. Again, I'll believe it when I see it.

Well I will have to eat my words. I was extremely disappointed at the time they took the show off and I thought that XM had played a cruel joke just to get subscribers or that Heidi had made a fuss and gotten it taken off. But now it's evident that Bruce was telling the truth and the show actually will be coming back.
AND I'm THRILLED TO SAY THE LEAST!!!

I know what I am about to say will probably never happen, because everyone pretends he never hosted the show, but I'd like to see the 90's AT40 with Shadoe and the 2 years of AT40 w/Casey from that decade added to the 90's channel as well. Either that or strike a deal fo rthe Top 30 Hitlist shows for that era. I am using these two shows because AT40 will apprently resurface on XM soon, and the Top 30 Hitlist doesnt exist (as far as I know) anymore. Both shows were around in the decade long enough to give a feel for the decade.
Hmm...if this deal has been struck and XM is paying the fees to use Billboard, I wonder what the chances are possibly for American Country Countdown from the 70's, 80's and 90's to show up on "America!" now.

I don't know if the Shadoe shows have different restrictions and such - if there aren't any, perhaps an email to Bruce Kelly could help.
I do know we will see AT40 with Shadoe rebroadcasts before we ever see Casey's WW1 shows. Those are indeed locked up and gone forever.

they will never be acknowledged again. If they do still exist WW1 is never putting them out. It was quite clear the show was built around Casey himself only, and without him they had no contingency plan for the show going forward.

As a big collector of AT40 shows on CD-R,I still welcome the news that AT40 is returning to the 70's and 80's channels of XM. I've been a subscriber for close to two years now,and this is just one extra feature/program that will spice those channels up--plus allow alot of "rare" top 40 singles to get airplay once again! I'll be sure to keep people posted here if I come across any new info. Steve Orchard

The thing you have to remember is that Casey left Westwood One on horrible terms - and a lawsuit. WW1 never wants anything to do with Casey again.

yeah, I didnt get into that. But I still say had they had a plan of how to go forward if he was not hosting it they might be still be around. But they didn't.

I've asked both message boards about adding ACC to one of the channels. The few responses to the message board have all been positive.
