Vince, I wish BB had hired you to do their yearend countdowns. In my opinion, the chart positions could be tabulated as soon as the song drops off the Hot 100. Cutoff could be the first week of December, giving almost an entire calendar year of chart action. I realize the charts for inclusion BB have to be submitted early for printing, or it would be so nice to have it for an entire calendar year. Oh well....

Last thing--it was really remiss of Billboard to tabulate a countdown for 1970 utilizing the dates of 1-3-70 to 11-28-70 then omitting December of that year as they resumed with 1-2-71 to 11-27-71. Then it did get back to normal with 12 months from then on.

That would have cool to work for BB compiling countdowns, but I was born in 1964 so I would have been too young.

BB not counting December in 1970's YE countdown was the way they used to do the YE countdown. It wasn't until 1972 that they started counting part of the previous year.

If the number one song changed on the frozen week I gave each song credit for a half week at #1. For example, "Tonight's The Night" was credited as having 7.5 weeks at #1 and "You Don't Have To Be A Star" was credited with 1.5 weeks at #1. YDHTBAS will be on the 1977 list. This is what I did if a record moved in or out of the top 10. The position before and after the frozen week was averaged. If that averaged position was less than 11, then that position was subtracted from 11 to get the top 10 bonus points. If the averaged position was 11 or greater then bonus points were not awarded for the averaged position.
