Has anyone mentioned Charlene's treacly, self-pitying "I've Never Been To Me?" I've hated that song since 1982! (Thankfully, I never heard it during its initial 1977 chart run.)

If anyone has mentioned "I'm Too Sexy" I second that. It is SOOOO cringeworthy.

Surprised that nobody mentioned two of the most cringe worth songs of 1975--
Feeling by Morris Albert (sounds like a song from a Hallmark movie)
&
Run Joey Run by David Geddes (sounds like the plot to a bad movie of the week).
As a disc jockey, I recall that there were many songs that I used to turn the monitor down to the it's lowest setting until the song was over.

Afternoon Delight, Torn Between Two Lovers, I've Never Been to Me, and Come On Eileen make me cringe to this day. I pull out my earbuds when they come on AT40

No doubt -- would fully agree with you on both of those. 1975 is one of my least favorite years in music during the intial AT40 Casey run, and two of the main reasons are John Denver and Freddy Fender. "I'm Sorry" is a cringe-worthy song from beginning to end (so was "Sunshine On My Shoulders" though it was a 1974 song), as are "Until the Next Teardrop Falls" and "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights" (Pete B. mentioned this one earlier in the thread). Every time I hear any one of those songs, my first thought is: who on Earth actually liked these?? And three of them hit #1!!

And I'm one of many 'earthlings' who like it. It was a 'throwback' song even in '75 (early '60s 'feel' to it), and I guess it's an acquired taste. Plus I love the verse that's repeated en espanol.

Six pages and nobody's mentioned "I Touch Myself?" Not 'embarrassing' to my ears.

For anyone that considers this song embarrassing, I thought I'd point out that today is the 50th anniversary of the debut of Zager & Evans' "In the Year 2525" on the Top 40. It would of course, go on to spend 12 weeks in the 40, and half of those were at #1. Guessing by the time it started to drop, people were really really sick of hearing it on the radio...

Really liked it that summer--but I was 11! Now I think it's a rather monotonous tune with some amateurish rhymes that could really use a bridge.

Zager and Evans had some clever songs on their albums. And, alas, some rather bad ones, especially on the 2525 LP, which I think made people lose interest in them.
I've read some credible talk on Facebook that Evans passed away last year, but no news outlets have reported it as of yet.
