Oh I've watched both. Shows you what an impression he made.

Todd Newton is also a working DJ as well as a game show host. He might well do a very good job at hosting something like a revived AT20, but I don't see it as likely that it or a similar countdown would be started with him as host when better-known names like Ryan Seacrest and Carson Daly are doing the same thing.

I see the AC and HAC versions of the iHeartRadio Countdown as the unofficial successor to AT20 and AT10

There's an AC version of the show? Didn't know that.

That is what the Premiere website says. Romeo hosts the CHR version and Mario Lopez hosts AC and HAC versions. I have never heard the AC version, but haven't really looked for it either. I know our iHeart AC in Orlando runs Mario's night show, not sure if they air the countdown. I know XL runs Romeo's version.

Tampa has CHR version on 93.3 and HAC on 100.7.

I was surprised when they started the show back in 2014. To me it made no sense when AT40 has essentially become the main benchmark iHeart show for CHR and HAC music stations. I was worried at first they were creating it to eventually ride AT40 off into the sunset. But both shows compliment each other well.

I think Mario's AC version was canceled at the end of last year.

I agree that if AT20 was still airing to this day, the show would be reduced to just two hours per episode. If any format downgrading, all these excess extras would be done away with, except for maybe one per hour, one each of an extra and a Long Distance Dedication, and the extras limited to material from 1990 and beyond. Todd Newton hosted The All New Press Your Luck on GSN, and is also on Monopoly Millionaire's Club. Ugh! I hated that 2002 version of Press Your Luck! I'll take the 80s version any day!

True that show was so good, any future remake wouldn't beat it anyway. The now late Peter Tomarken, original host, showed up on the new one and Todd let him host for a while: Speaking of game show remakes, did anyone catch the $100,000 Pyramid and Match Game on ABC Sunday night? I'd have to say they were both really good, it helped to have the game played the right way and the original theme music.

I watched half of Match Game as its my all time favorite game show. It proved some things belong staying in the past.

I heard from one of Casey's staff during 2007 or 2008 that they were thinking about changing the show to AT30, however, no one would pay for the new jingles. Also, I heard that in the last year or so, producer was asking for more trivia related to new songs on the countdown, but after June 2008 it probably had no commercial sense to do anything because of Casey's health.

Comparing him to a legend like Gene Rayburn is like comparing any president after 1970 to George Washington and Abe Lincoln. Most of the celebs from the 70s show are gone now, CNR, Brett Somers, Richard Dawson. I see Fannie Flagg is still around, hopefully they invite her and Betty White to be on.

Seeing as how nothing you just said has anything to do with why I feel the way I did, I'll assume it's some stream of consciousness thing you are typing. In the meantime, if you care to know why I felt that way, you could always ASK.
