U2rules, that's cool. I thought I was the only one on here that could like that many songs in a show and for this show in particular for that matter. Which I just started btw. The 84 show.
Anyone remember when people used to predict what Larry Morgan would say abuot the extras? With a question about movie songs hitting #1 revealing that 1984 was just one #1 movie song away from tying the record, it sets up Larry Morgan to say of "I Just Called to Say I Love You" that it is the song that breaks that record.

I guess nobody likes 'Rendezvous' by the Hudsons. I think it's a good song.

Thanks. I didn't want to put so many songs and then I thought there are so many great songs that I love, I thought, why not? Maybe I'll just limit it to the Top 20 next time . I guess nobody likes 'Rendezvous' by the Hudsons. I think it's a good song. Sorry. Never heard of that one.

I guess nobody likes 'Rendezvous' by the Hudsons. I think it's a good song. Dave... My lists are of those songs I love listening to. There are many songs I like but I don't post them because they don't quite measure up to my favorites. There are very few songs played on AT40 I dislike. Just because I don't post a song doesn't mean I don't like it. Truth be told, there are only two songs on the 8/25/84 countdown that would fall in the "not very fond of" category for me... "17" by Rick James (sorry, seminolefan!) and "The Lucky One" by Laura Branigan (sorry, u2rules...still trying to figure out how that song hit the Top 20). For the 8/23/75 countdown, there are many good and great songs, and then there's "Run Joey Run". If I am in the right mood, I can tolerate "Feelings" but "Run Joey Run"... I could never fathom a song like that being played on a Top 40 station today. "Rendezvous" to me is a pretty good tune... I like the old school organ sound of the song.

I'm the opposite: Have no tolerance for "Feelings" but I unabashedly love over-the-top death song schlockfests like "Run Joey Run"! And the fall of '75 blessed us with two of them, this one and Austin Roberts' "Rocky". Besides, if Mr. Geddes' protagonist in the song hadn't been stupid enough to go confront the angry dad, after Julie specifically told him not to, she'd still be alive. So, he's sort of to blame.

Well mga707, you just made me go to YouTube and listen to the song. David Geddes had a real music video for Run Joey Run! The video isn't as schlock-y (is that a word?) as the song so I'll move Run Joey Run from my "No. Just no." category to my "It's not very good but it's got a cool video by 1975 standards!" category.

Last week, I had two Top 17 lists. This week, it's another "Even Stephen" week but it features two Top 11 lists...
My favorite songs from the 8/26/72 countdown: * "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)" by Looking Glass * "Alone Again (Naturally)" by Gilbert O'Sullivan * "Long Cool Woman (In A Fat Dress)" by The Hollies * "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" by Jim Croce * "Guitar Man" by Bread * "Back Stabbers" by The O'Jays * "Where Is The Love" by Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway * "Saturday In The Park" by Chicago * "Go All The Way" by The Raspberries * "Lean On Me" by Bill Withers * "Honky Cat" by Elton John <edited
My Top 11 songs from the 8/29/81 countdown: * "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" by Stevie Nicks (and Tom Petty) * "Jesse's Girl" by Rick Springfield * "Urgent" by Foreigner * "Lady" by The Commodores * "Who's Cryin' Now" by Journey * "The Breakup Song" by The Greg Kihn Band * "Fire & Ice" by Pat Benetar * "Hold On Tight" by ELO * "The Voice" by The Moody Blues * "The Stroke" by Billy Squier * "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins
For me, 1981 was coming out of its slump around this time... I only had five favorite songs the last time 1981 was featured. Also, two years ago, I would have had "Start Me Up" on my list and not "In The Air Tonight". "In The Air Tonight" was on my "way overplayed list" so I couldn't enjoy it anymore but lately hasn't been in heavy rotation on many stations where I live... I can enjoy it again. Meanwhile, "Start Me Up" has been featured ad nauseum, so much so that I don't love it anymore.

Honky Cat-Elton John Lean On Me-Bill Withers School's Out-Alice Cooper Saturday In The Park-Chicago Rock And Roll Part 2-Gary Glitter (controversial choice I know. I don't like what he did but it's a good song) Coconut-Nillsson I'm Still In Love With You-Al Green Alone Again,Naturally-Gilbert O'Sullivan Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)-Looking Glass
I pride myself of being pretty knowledgable about music and I'm not familiar with a lot of the songs on this list. That's why I posted the "B" show instead. I know who Sonny And Cher and Barbra Streisand is of course but I'm not that familiar with Bread and I've never even heard of Donna Fargo (?).
I know what you're saying about "Start Me Up" that song has been played to death but I still love it and not to harp on this but I'll never understand how "Endless Love" was number one for 9 weeks. No offense to anyone who likes that song. To each their own.
