08-26-72 I pride myself of being pretty knowledgable about music and I'm not familiar with a lot of the songs on this list. That's why I posted the "B" show instead. I know who Sonny And Cher and Barbra Streisand is of course but I'm not that familiar with Bread and I've never even heard of Donna Fargo (?). Ms. Fargo was a major female country star of the 1970s, particularly the first half of the decade. Pretty sure she's still around, don't know if she's performing in Branson or not. I did not care for her singing style because of a certain vocal quirk she had in every song I ever heard by her. In her biggest pop crossover hit, "Funny Face", for example, she pronounces the title "Funny Faish", which just sets my teeth on edge. Not a lisp, which would be "Funny Faith", and which I could handle, but a certain 'hissing' of the 'S' sound that I just don't like. As far as Bread, who could not love a songwriter (David Gates) whose first big hit was "Naked With You"? Yes, I know it's really "Make It With You", but back in 1970 me and probably every other pubescent boy sang it as "...I wanna be (or get) naked with you...I really think we should be naked, girl...". Cracked us up every time...

Last week, I had two Top 17 lists. This week, it's another "Even Stephen" week but it features two Top 11 lists... My favorite songs from the 8/26/72 countdown: * "Long Cool Woman (In A Fat Dress)" by The Hollies * "Rocket Man (I Think It's Gonna Be Long Long Time)" by Elton John I think you meant (In a Black Dress) and "Honky Cat" respectively, "Rocket Man" fell off the previous week (8/19/72) from #35 on 8/12/72!
Yes, I meant "Honky Cat" so I made the change/edit. I'll leave The Hollies title as it is as there has to be a little unintended humor on this page.

In noticing the five favorite song lists posted for the 9/7/85 show, it looks like 37 of the 40 featured songs were named as favorites. That says something about the quality of music featured thirty years ago! The only songs not named as favorites so far are "No Looking Back" by Michael McDonald, "C-I-T-Y" by John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band, and "Smokin' In The Boys Room" by Motley Crue.
Maybe someone else will post their favorites and include one or more of those songs among their choices. Don't let Michael McDonald be on his own. Don't let John Cafferty be among the O-N-L-Y songs not mentioned as a favorite. Don't let Motley Crue be part of a lonely crew... somebody out there has to really enjoy these songs... maybe?
