I enjoy reading the "Chart Critiques" thread... a lot of work goes into those summations! For those of us who don't want to critique each and every AT40 song... what are your favorite songs featured on this weekend's shows? It might be fun to see if the #1 songs then might be your #1's now, if a song that just made or just missed the Top 10 is a fave, or if a song which spent two weeks at #38 or #39 is one of your most liked songs. Whether you have one favorite or a Top 10 or anywhere in between, it would be great to see how many songs within a Top 40 would be favorites for some of us.
From the 2/3/79 show, my Top 5 (in order of chart peak): #5 peak: "Hold The Line" by Toto... somewhat overplayed on radio today but I still love hearing this classic rock tune. #6 peak: "Every 1's A Winner" by Hot Chocolate... love the combo of keyboards and guitars in this song. #9 peak: "What You Won't Do For Love" by Bobby Caldwell... understated ballads can be powerful, and this one is. #31 peak: "Shattered" by The Rolling Stones... this song is up, up, up, up, UP! among my favorites. #32 peak: "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" by Rose Royce... perfect combo of voice and the song's key signature makes this a pleasure to hear.
From the 1/31/87 show, my Top 5 (in order of chat peak): #4 peak: "Land Of Confusion" by Genesis... Love the guitars, Phil's voice and the bridge in this song... and the video. #13 peak: "Nobody's Fool" by Cinderella... a power ballad that really has power. Tom Keifer has some pipes! #14 peak: "I Wanna Go Back" by Eddie Money... just a great pop song. Eddie has the perfect voice for this tune. #15 peak: "Stop To Love" by Luther Vandross... there's a perfect mix of pop and R&B in this song. #19 peak: "All I Wanted" by Kansas... I really like a lot of tunes by Kansas, and this mid-tempo song is good to hear no matter when.

OK, I'll pick five each from the other two (sans reasons, as I'll save that for the critiques I may or may not do). My only restriction here is that these are all songs that are not 'played to death' on oldies radio today. 2/2/74: "Until You Come Back To Me"--Aretha Franklin "Spiders and Snakes"--Jim Stafford "Put Your Hands Together"--The Ojays "Boogie Down"--Eddie Kendrick "Jim Dandy"--Black Oak Arkansas
1/31/81: "Every Woman In the World"--Air Supply "Same Old Lang Syne"--Dan Fogelberg "Miss Sun"--Boz Scaggs "I Ain't Gonna Stand For It"--Stevie Wonder "Seven Bridges Road"--The Eagles

I love both versions - exactly three years apart. Wake Up Everybody is also great - a perfect "starting a new year' song.
