^ mkarns ... I like your categories! Thanks. I modelled this on Radio Insight's Sean Ross, who most weekends posts on Twitter his opinions of the 1970s AT40s that Sirius XM plays. "Gems" I took to mean songs that have gotten rather lost over the years (or were never big hits to begin with) which merit rediscovery, while "Permaburn" is songs that are OK in and of themselves, but at least to me have become burnt out by overplay. He also sometimes puts up a "Sean vs. the World" category for songs that are broadly popular and still widely played, but he thinks are overrated at best. "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Rocket Man" are a couple he's listed as such in the last few weeks. (I couldn't think of anything that I view similarly from the above shows this weekend.)

6/21/86:Blow Monkeys - Digging Your Scene El DeBarge - Who´s Johnny Genesis - Invisible Touch Madonna - Live To TellThe Models - Out Of Mind Out Of Sight Lido Sounds Lido Sounds is a three-day festival in Linz that runs until Sunday and focuses on alternative music. Located between the Danube and a housing estate, it bills itself as a quality festival whose venue is somewhat reminiscent of the Primavera Festival in Barcelona, which also takes place at the harbor, also offers an eclectic mix, but has long since become huge. The Lido, on the other hand, is downright familiar, which carried over to the whole area as a very relaxed basic feeling. There was talk of 25,000 visitors on the first day. Linz has been justifiably proud of its Klangwolke for over 40 years, and what the Lido offered on the first day was a Klangwolke of a different kind, but at least as enchanting, despite all the differences in the types. Fittingly, a " live" edition:
6/21/86:
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Like A Rock ( live) Falco - Vienna Calling ( live) Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer ( live) Prince & The Revolution - Mountains ( live) The Fabulous Thunderbirds - Tuff Enuff ( live) Time for an extra: Big CountryAt the beginning of the 80s, Big Country was considered the Scottish flagship rock band and was exemplary for stadium rock. Not only did they heat up the audience as the opening act for great artists such as the Rolling Stones and The Who, they also made the crowd go wild at countless concerts of their own. The last Big Country album, "Driving To Damascus", was released in 1999. The breakup of Big Country a year later was a shock to fans. Singer Stuart Adamson was then found dead in a hotel room in Hawaii in 2001. Alcoholism and marital problems are said to have been the reason for his suicide. After Big Country paused for six years, the remaining band members announced their reunion and since then can be seen live again in a changing line-up. They celebrated the 30th anniversary of their hit song "Look Away" in 2016 with a tour through Europe, Canada and the USA. However, the singer´s place remains vacant at live performances, in memory of Stuart Adamson. In 1984, Big Country was already nominated for two Grammys. With "Look Away" they landed their 4th UK Top 10 hit and climbed to the top of the charts in Ireland:

While I really like or love 35 songs from the 6/25/83 countdown (this group of songs is fantastic!), these 20 songs are my absolute faves:Electric Avenue, Family Man, Too Shy, Overkill, Our House, Is There Something I Should Know, Baby Jane, Stand Back, Wishing (I Had A Photograph Of You)*, She Blinded Me With ScienceAnyone want to take a guess on the five songs that didn't make my favorites list? While I really like or love 31 songs from the 6/25/77 countdown, these 7 songs are my absolute faves:I'm Your Boogie Man, Whatcha Gonna Do, Sir Duke, You & Me, Couldn't Get It Right, Peace Of Mind*, EasyAnyone want to take a guess at the 9 songs that didn't make my favorites list? A Flock Of Seagulls and Boston are This Week's Shooda Dun Betr Picks. How "Peace Of Mind" only peaked at #38 is head-scratching given how much airplay it gets today. "Wishing" is one of those tunes where if I am in the right mood, I could listen to the backing track for hours. I'm channeling my inner seminolefan by featuring the extended version of "Wishing" (9 1/2 minutes!) plus the original demo version of "Peace Of Mind" (sound quality is not that great but I love the rawness of this track):

He was one of the guest musicians on her 1994 debut album "Arrive All Over You" - the single "Gimme Little Sign" released from it reached #75 in the UK charts in 1995. From 1998, she was part of Alexander´s band New Radicals, but the band disbanded in 1999. Danielle´s second album "Portable Life" was released in 1999. From 2008 Danielle Brisebois was part of the group "The Not So Silent Majority" around Gregg Alexander, Rusty Anderson and Rick Nowels, who supported Barack Obama in the election campaign with their song Obama Rock. Occasionally, Brisebois´ vocals are compared to those of Alanis Morissette. In addition to her own music career, Danielle Brisebois is also active as a lyricist for other singers. She has written songs for Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Kylie Minogue. Her hits include "Unwritten" and "Pocketful of Sunshine" by Natasha Bedingfield. from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits.
