There should also be people who are not necessarily awakened by world-famous drinks, but by certain pieces of music. And so here´s a little " the early bird catches the worm"-edition: 8/16/86:Regina - Baby Love Stacey Q - Two Of Hearts NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!If I woke up to "Two Of Hearts" or "Baby Love" when those songs were popular, the early bird would have become as flat as a pancake. At least you didn't mention "Dancing On The Ceiling" in your grouping... that would be the trifecta of hated songs for me from 8/16/86. It's rare that I hate one song on a countdown... but TOH, BL and DOTC fall into the "No. Just no." category for me. By the way, I have always wanted to use 36 pt font here so thanks for allowing me to use it 😁.
I suspect that the sampling of the subtitle "I Need You", which was sung by Stacey Q, is perceived as annoying. Stacey Q was previously a dancer at Disneyland and later played in a cover band in which she mainly imitated "The Go Go´s". In 1985 Stacey Q signed a contract with "On the Spot Records", an independent label. That later became her undoing, because both "On the Spot Records" and the major label "Atlantic Records" pushed ahead with the release of "Two of Hearts". Stacey Q was tied to both record labels in 1986. Therefore "Two of Hearts" missed #1 in the USA because the records of the two labels were not added up in the count. And to "Dancing On The Ceiling": The song and especially the video - at least at some balls in the city of Salzburg in the 1986/87 ball season - resulted in some walls showing numerous footsteps (no joke !).

9/13/80 (A):Air Supply - All Out Of LoveBilly Joel - Don´t Ask Me Why Electric Light Orchestra - All Over The World Pete Townsend - Let Love Open My Door The Pointer Sisters - He´s So Shy 9/5/87 (B):Dionne Warwick & Jeffrey Osborne - Love PowerGrateful Dead - Touch Of Grey Huey Lewis & The News - Doin´ It All For My Baby Jonathan Butler - Lies Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - Lost In Emotion City Hill ClimbA completely new era in cycling heralded the first staging of the Salzburg City Hill Climbs last Thursday. The Hohensalzburg Fortress will be the scene of what is probably the most spectacular cycling race in Austria. The participants have to complete a 900 meter long route from Kapitelplatz up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress with a maximum gradient of 32% at an altitude of 120 meters. The City Hill Climb aims to bring cycling closer to spectators and the media through exciting competitions. Additional excitement is created by a new competition mode for road cycling. In the elimination races, the fastest can qualify for the next round. The result is a tournament character that harbors great tension. The entertainment and closeness to the sport are the additional bonus for the audience, who can follow the race in different areas. The event is possible for professionals, amateurs and amateur cyclists. And here are two real " power"-editions: 9/13/80 (A):Billy Joel - It´s Still Rock´n Roll To Me Carly Simon - Jesse Eddie Rabbitt - Drivin´ My Life Away George Benson - Give Me The Night Queen - Another One Bites The Dust 9/5/87 (B):George Michael - I Want Your Sex Heart - Who Will You Run To Living In A Box - Living In A Box Sammy Hagar - Give To Live Whitesnake - Here I Go Again Radio HolidayLast Monday the new school year started for all pupils in eastern Austria. For all pupils from other Austrian parts - including Salzburg - the school year starts next Monday. This means that some radio stations change their program slightly again: Since 1979, Ö3 has been broadcasting its " Radio Holiday" during the school holidays - here is a short piece of the signation:
The music comes from the Austrian duo Waterloo & Robinson, who reached #5 in the Eurovision Song Contest with "My Little World" ( at40fg.proboards.com/post/155352). Waterloo about the creation of this signation: "We were in a recording studio and I received a call asking if I wanted to do that. I immediately said: 'Yeah, sure ! If I can make people happy - and with something that sounds as good as that - I´ll be there right away !'" Starting next Monday, Ö3 will broadcast "Greatest Hits" instead of " Radio Holiday", so here are my "Greatest Hits"-editions: 9/13/80 (A):Diana Ross - Upside Down Olivia Newton-John & The Electric Light Orchestra - Xanadu Paul Simon - Late In The Evening Stephanie Mills - Never Knew Love Like This Before The Rolling Stones - Emotional Rescue 9/5/87 (B):Danny Wilson - Mary´s Prayer Europe - Carrie Madonna - Who´s That Girl T´Pau - Heart And Soul U2 - I Still Haven´t Found What I´m Looking For In the fall of 1985 " Radio Holiday" was replaced by the following programs: Mon/Thu 9.05 am - 9.30 am Rocking Fifties - Music from the fifties Tue/Fri 9.05 am - 9.30 am The Roaring Sixties - Music from the sixties Wed/Sat 9.05 am - 9.30 am The 70s - The hits from a decade Sun 9.05 am - 10 am Daydreamer Meco´s Star Wars Theme was the signation of "The 70s", therefore, I have a double " 70s"-edition this week: 9/10/77:Carole King - Hard Rock Cafe Donna Summer - I Feel Love Electric Light Orchestra - Telephone Line George Benson - The Greatest Love Of All Hot Chocolate - So You Win Again Meco - Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band Rita Coolidge - (Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher And Higher Supertramp - Give A Little Bit The Bay City Rollers - You Made Me Believe In Magic The Steve Miller Band - Jungle Love Time for an extra: Jackie Shay"Der ganz normale Wahnsinn" ("About the normal madness") is a German television series that was first broadcast between 1979 and 1980 in 12 episodes. The newly divorced journalist Maximilian Glanz lives and works in Munich, where he´s responsible for answering letters to the editor of a daily newspaper. For some time now, he has actually wanted to write a book entitled "Why is it that the individual does not feel well, although we are all doing so well", in which he deals with the sensitivities of his fellow human beings. The plot consists of twelve episodes, which are referred to as chapters without further titles. In the first chapter, Maximilian Glanz had a small rear-end collision after his divorce date, through which he met the attractive Gloria, who was also newly divorced. The two spend the whole day together and transfer their friends, with whom each actually wanted to celebrate their divorce. Finally they end up in Maximilian´s apartment, where the togetherness is repeatedly disturbed by phone calls and in the end Maximilian´s ex-wife is at the door and tries to win him back ... In September 1980 the theme music from this series entered the Austrian charts. For everyone who fondly remembers this TV series, but also for everyone who doesn´t like songs like TOH or DOTC ... here´s Jackie Shay with "Nerves": from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

Time to find my unconstructed sportscoat and go for a spin:

9/21/85:Don Henley - Sunset Grill John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band - C-I-T-Y Night Ranger - Four In The Morning (I Can´t Take Anymore) The Motels - Shame Whitney Houston - Saving All My Love For YouÖtzi´s anniversaryOn 9/19/1991, the German couple Erika and Helmut Simon "stumbled" over the 5,300-year-old corpse from the Neolithic or Copper Age at 3,210 meters on the Tisenjoch in the South Tyrolean part of the Ötztal Alps. The "Ice Man" is exhibited in the South Tyrolean Archaeological Museum in Bolzano. The glacier mummy has been the subject of extensive research over the past few decades - for example, its various diseases have been deciphered. The research work on "Ötzi" is also far from over, as conservation officer Oliver Peschel recently explained. Decisive for this is the progress in medical research and medical technology. And here´s my "#1 and #9"-edition:
9/21/85:Aretha Franklin - Freeway Of Love (down 9 notches) Dire Straits - Money For Nothing (#1) Godley & Creme - Cry (#19) Phil Collins - Don´t Lose My Number (up 1 notch) Ready For The World - Oh Sheila (#9) Time for an extra: Two Of UsTwo Of Us was a pop duo that was founded in 1985 in Reutlingen (Germany) by guitarist and keyboardist Ulrich Herter and drummer Thomas Dörr. The band was named after the Beatles song of the same name. With the title "Blue Night Shadow", both of them immediately hit a top hit in German-speaking countries. After a lack of success, the duo broke up again in 1988.
For all fans of foxtrot, jive or swing - here are Two Of Us with "Blue Night Shadow":
from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

Ruh Roh! Because the Ultimate Music Database is down as I type this, I'm posting my faves using the Charis Music Group website... meaning this week's favorites will be listed from #40 to #1 rather than #1 to #40. Countdown fans... rejoice! My Top 29 songs from the 9/22/84 countdown (with absolute faves in bold):#40-#31: Strut, Desert Moon, Who Wears These Shoes, On The Dark Side, Some Guys Have All The Luck #30-#21: If Ever You're In My Arms Again, I'm So Excited, Are We Ourselves, Go Insane, Rock Me Tonite, When Doves Cry, We're Not Gonna Take It #20-#11: Sunglasses At Night, Torture, Lights Out, When You Close Your Eyes, Dynamite, Hard Habit To Break, Ghostbusters, Stuck On You, Cover Me Top 10: Cruel Summer, I Just Called To Say I Love You, The Glamorous Life, If This Is It, Drive, What's Love Got To Do With It, She Bop, Let's Go Crazy My Top 18 songs from the 9/25/71 countdown:#40-#31: All Day Music #30-#21: Liar, Take Me Home Country Roads, The Story In Your Eyes, Signs #20-#11: So Far Away, Sweet City Woman, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, Won't Get Fooled Again, If You Really Love MeTop 10: Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get, Superstar, Smiling Faces Sometimes, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, Spanish Harlem, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Ain't No Sunshine, Maggie May And now it's time for an 80sat40fan Flashback... My family moved from Cleveland to Louisville in 1971. We took many trips to and from Cleveland over the years. While my brothers and I would play the license plate game or do puzzles in our Yes & Know Books (anyone remember those?), mom and dad would try to find an AM radio station with some music. It seemed like every trip to or from Cleveland, we would hear "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" by Paul McCartney. Every trip for seven years! So I'm picking that song as a Pick Hit this week (also because it features the line, "And I believe I'm gonna rain"... and we're expecting 4 inches of rain over a 72 hour period in metro Detroit 😮). My other pick is Sheila E simply because I don't believe I have featured her awesome percussion skills yet... BONUS: I am not sure I have ever had seven absolute faves in a row on a list but #9 through #3 from the 9/25/71 countdown are a blast (with #2 almost up there as well)!

9/22/84:Billy Idol - Flesh For Fantasy Elton John - Who Wears These Shoes Peabo Bryson - If Ever You´re In My Arms AgainPrince & The Revolution - Let´s Go Crazy The Fixx - Are We Ourselves Trafficpilot" Trafficpilot" is the name of a new mobile app, which is now supposed to help make traffic in the city of Salzburg smoother. It shows the speed at which you catch a green wave and how long you have to wait at a red light. This should enable more relaxed driving and less pollutant emissions. The Munich company´s app isn´t only intended for drivers, but also for cyclists. Salzburg is the first city in Austria in which the " Trafficpilot" can be used. All 141 traffic lights - currently with only three exceptions - are already programmed. The developer Thomas Meyer removes concerns about data protection: "No personal data is saved, nor are any routes saved." After Salzburg, other cities in Austria should link their traffic lights with this app. And should there ever be a traffic jam, this " greatest hits"-edition will almost certainly provide relaxation: 9/22/84:Cyndi Lauper - She Bop John Waite - Missing You The Cars - DriveThe Pointer Sisters - I´m So Excited Tina Turner - What´s Love Got To Do With It Time for an extra: Eartha KittHer "Santa Baby" from 1953 is well known - and with the help of the New York "Village People" production team led by Jacques Morali, Eartha Kitt made a real comeback in Europe in 1984 with "I Love Men": from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."
