NOTE: Since it's the first week of the new school year, I may have had my evil red pen out when reviewing the '86 list. It's also before 5am as I post this so I haven't had my morning Caffeine-Free Coca Cola as of yet... which might make everyone wonder why I need Caffeine-Free Coca Cola to wake me up in the morning . If anyone else out there works in education or is a student, good luck with the school year!

There should also be people who are not necessarily awakened by world-famous drinks, but by certain pieces of music. And so here´s a little " the early bird catches the worm"-edition: 8/16/86:Regina - Baby Love Stacey Q - Two Of Hearts And speaking of "Early Bird" - here´s Andre Brasseur with his instrumental "Early Bird" from 1965:

At least you didn't mention "Dancing On The Ceiling" in your grouping... that would be the trifecta of hated songs for me from 8/16/86. It's rare that I hate one song on a countdown... but TOH, BL and DOTC fall into the "No. Just no." category for me. By the way, I have always wanted to use 36 pt font here so thanks for allowing me to use it 😁.

The Müllner brewery with the adjoining "Bräustübl" is one of the most traditional beer restaurants in Austria today and was founded in 1621 by Augustinian monks. In 1926 the Bräustübl was expanded to include another hall and the guest garden was enlarged. During World War II, operations had to be stopped after a bomb attack in 1944. Today, the Bräustübl is the largest beer restaurant in Austria - with over 5,000 square meters of floor space, a total of five large halls and three parlors inside the building and a further 1,400 seats in the associated guest garden. The beer comes from wooden barrels and is served in stone mugs. The matching dishes can be found in the various stalls of the "Schmankerlgang", which are arranged in the style of a traditional market hall. The Bräustübl is a place of encounter, of tradition - a piece of living history in the center of Salzburg´s world cultural heritage. The brewery now produces 15,000 hectoliters of beer every year. Lenten beer and Christmas beer are served - depending on the season - as well as Märzen beer all year round. For decades, a loyal fan base of guests from overseas has developed - especially in the USA, Canada, Japan and South Korea. The Bräustübl was also the location of a well-known US series in 1989 - here´s a report:
So, here are my "celebration"-editions:

Time for an Italian extra: Miguel Bose
Miguel Bose Dominguin is a Spanish singer and actor. With over 20 million records sold, he is one of the most popular musicians in Spain, Italy and Latin America. In 2010 he also obtained Colombian citizenship. He´s the son of the torero Luis Miguel Dominguin and the Italian actress Lucia Bose. His family friends included Pablo Picasso and Ernest Hemingway. Miguel went to London in the early 1970s and enrolled in Lindsay Kemp´s School of Dance and Mimic; later he switched to the dance school of Maurice Bejart in Paris. He made his first film experiences in 1973, and in 1975 he made his debut in the music business with the help of Camilo Sesto. He had his first big success in 1977 with the hit and the album of the same name "Linda".
In the summer of 1982 "Bravi Raggazzi" was heard very often from the Italian Wurlitzers:
And as an encore also the B-side "Sono Amici":
from my musical category "daydreamer" My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

So inquiring minds want to know, trekkielo ... just curious why you update your favorites list just a week or two after posting. I will update lists from 4 - 6 years ago as tastes can change over the years. Given how much "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League gets played on radio... how does a song like that not make the cut last week but it does this week ?

9/3/83:Asia - Don´t Cry Duran Duran - Is There Something I Should Know Michael Jackson - Human NatureSpandau Ballet - True Talking Heads - Burning Down The House A world recordLast Thursday, three Vorarlberg athletes set a sensational world record in Brandnertal (Vorarlberg): They balanced from gondola to gondola at a height of 200 meters, i.e. without a fixed attachment point, on a 65-meter-long slackline. Slacklines are normally stretched between fixed points such as trees or rocks, but the gondolas themselves are attached to ropes, which created exceptional conditions. With a distance of 65 meters between the gondolas, this is a new world record in highlining without a fixed attachment point. The previous record of a team in France was surpassed by the three Vorarlbergers Thomas Spöttl, Yannick Loerwald and Justin Kroppa by five meters.
"It wasn´t so much about the world record, but more about this incredible experience", says Spöttl, chairman of the Austrian Slackline Association: "Normally you can orientate yourself visually by the surroundings. At such a height you are in an empty space, so to speak and you have to rely completely on your feelings and your own abilities. That was a very special sporting challenge." Spöttl has been slacklining as a hobby since 2009, Bleurwald and Krop have been part of the slackline scene since 2015. "Our Panoramabahn has never been used like this before", says David Domig, Managing Director of Bergbahnen Brandnertal. "It was really impressive to see what the three of them have achieved here. It was a great pleasure and a great experience for us to support them in their ambitious project." And even if it looked dangerous for the audience: Great importance was attached to safety - the athletes were secured with a safety line, among other things. In order not to take any risks, the world record attempt was postponed once due to the wind. This time, however, the three athletes found perfect conditions.
So, it´s time for a "congratulations"-edition:
9/3/83:Culture Club - I´ll Tumble 4 Ya ELO - Rock´n Roll Is King Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance Michael Sembello - Maniac The Stray Cats - She´s Sexy + 17 Time for an Italian extra: RigheiraStefano Rota and Stefano Righi dream of a great music career. The Italians have been tinkering with their own songs in their small home studio for years, but so far they haven´t been very successful. The two are very trendy with their sound. British bands like Soft Cell or OMD celebrate great success in the charts with the same mix of disco and synth pop. A fateful encounter actually puts the two on the road to success after all. By chance Rota and Righi get to know the two successful producers Michelangelo and Carmelo La Bionda, who had a hit in the 1970s with "One For You, One For Me". Together they produce a song that is hard to beat in terms of bizarre. To a catchy and lively home organ melody, the Italian duo trills about a nuclear disaster on a beach - and that in Spanish too. Success is not long in coming. "Vamos A La Playa" becomes a hit and catapults Rota and Righi to the top of the European charts. The text is very cynical and is about the explosion of an atomic bomb in the Mediterranean. "We´re going to the beach - all with hats. The radioactive wind tousles your hair." After their success waned, Righeira separated in 1992, but reunited in 1999. They then performed mainly in Italy and in 2007 released Mondovisione, their first new album in 15 years. In 2016, the duo split for a second time. And for all friends of the saxophone here´s "L´estate Sta Finiendo" from 1985: from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

Why? Only because seminolefan didn't pick "Upside Down" (although he picked "Take Your Time (Do It Right) so props to him ), and only because trekkielo somehow didn't feature "Don't Ask Me Why" (while somehow featuring all three tunes from Xanadu? ). And I have no idea what listenerwants2know would feature for his obscure pick of the week so I'll do my best to channel him here for a bonus pick and feature "Jungle Love" from when it was featured on "Everybody Loves Raymond". listenerwants2know, please tell me that you like "Everybody Loves Raymond"... otherwise I owe you a really obscure pick sometime soon ...
