Austria´s pupils are currently enjoying the last third of their summer holidays, which take about 9 1/2 weeks. In Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, the new school year begins on the first Monday of September, while in the rest of the country it begins a week later. So, 9 1/2 weeks is the duration of the summer holidays for Austria´s pupils. But 9 1/2 weeks is also the title of a well-known movie from 1986, which brings me to a "movie"-edition:
8/22/87:
Bananarama - I Heard A Rumour Bob Seger - Shakedown George Michael - I Want Your Sex Los Lobos - La Bamba Madonna - Who´s That Girl
An Austrian extra: Nolly Brown & The Sunshine Boys
Based on the motto "Start It Again": In 1983 the band "Nolly Brown & The Sunshine Boys" was founded in Vienna. And in 1984 they released the song "Start It Again":

Nine weeks later (this week's show), I'm down to a Top 14. The following week (9/6/80), it would be down to a Top 12 list. C, F or B
A few days ago, it was stated in this thread that the American school system has grades A to D and F, with the letter E generally missing. However, if you combine the letters C, F and B (F and B precisely in lower case letters), you get a letter combination that describes the climate of one of the most common climate types, especially in Central and Western Europe. The letter C stands for warm temperate rain climates, the letter f for 12 humid months and the letter b for the fact that the average temperature of the warmest month is below 22 °C, but that it´s warmer than 10 °C on average in at least 4 months. Whether or not the following editions are only suitable in a Cfb climate I dare to doubt, but here are my two "C, F or B" editions:

An Austrian extra: Hubertus von Hohenlohe
His mother Ira Fürstenberg is the offspring of the great Fiat-Agnelli clan, his father, Alfonso Hohenlohe, was the undisputed Jet-Set King of Marbella. Early on Hubertus von Hohenlohe celebrated at parties with Andy Warhol and on the yachts of Gunther Sachs and Aristotle Onassis. He doesn´t care about his princess image and the image the others have of him, Hohenlohe says in an interview. Rather, he plays with it: for the presentation of a book he even sat in a shop window, "to see how people stare at you when you sit in there". Hubertus von Hohenlohe was born on 2/2/1959 in Mexico City. A meeting with Andy Warhol in 1982 in New York stimulated his artistic ambitions. The first musical attempts were made in London.
From 1987 here´s Hubertus von Hohenlohe with "I Think I Am":

[...] My Extra comes from this group from The Netherlands. Although it featured members to come and go, it was based around a trio of sisters named Toni, Betty, and Marianne (Kowalczyk). They had a string of Hits throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. This was their first one, and it was a smash: charting in several Countries including #1 in Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands and #4 in Austria. Mississippi - Pusycat (actually two S's) www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZEPIpTpoPs - You know it just fits the mood! Thank you. September has arrived ... and with it the longing for the next dance season. For tuning a Cha Cha Cha – Earth, Wind & Fire with "September": But September also brings some wet days. "Wet Day In September" ... hmmm ... that was a Pu...cat album. And from this album (and in the footsteps of the Four Tops) here are Pu...cat with "Same Old Song":

A cigarette in the corner of the mouth, a conspicuous nose, sunglasses, a shabby smile, a sloppy gait: casual, self-confident, charismatic came Jochen Rindt. A guy who got up and liked it. A tramp, as soon as he was in a racing car. On 9/5/1970 Rindt was killed in a training accident in Monza (Italy). "He is out of the crowd with his whole appearance", recalled his school friend and today´s Red Bull motor sports consultant Helmut Marko at the beginning of July on the sidelines of the Grand Prix of Austria. For the 77-year-old Styrian, Rindt is much more than a Formula 1 legend. "No matter when you get there, even 50 years after your death, there are always flowers and candles on your grave. We are a skin, but I think Jochen is the most popular athlete Austria has ever had. He was a myth", says Marko. Jochen Rindt pursued one goal in his career: He absolutely wanted to become Formula 1 World Champion. When Nina Rindt accepted the World Cup trophy that her husband had longed for, he had been dead for two months. "It was his passion. He did what he loved", says the Finn. 50 years ago, the training for the Italian Grand Prix was unfortunate: In the Parabolica, Rindt crashed into the tracks with his Lotus 72. The cause was a broken brake shaft at the front right. Rindt was only 28 years old and so far the only driver to become the posthumous Formula 1 World Champion.
Now, here´s my special "Formula 1"- (or"speed"-)edition:
9/5/81 (A):

An Austrian extra: Freddy Quinn
Homesickness, wanderlust and adventure - Freddy Quinn is the epitome of a generation that wanted to go out into the distance. Freddy was born in Lower Austria as the child of an Austrian and an Irish merchant, who later emigrated to the USA (exactly Morgantown, Virginia) with little Freddy. Here Freddy Quinn attended elementary school, before his mother brought him back to Austria. The wanderlust had remained Freddy´s lifetime and he often boasted as a teenager. The young vagabond trampled throughout Europe, landed in Algeria, where he played songs for the foreign legionaries. Freddy was able to play numerous instruments, including trumpet, piano and saxophone. He also worked as a circus artist. Freddy Quinn was discovered as a singer in a pub in Hamburg´s St. Pauli district. The label Polydor gave him singing lessons. He also recorded his first hit single "Heimweh" (homesickness) with Polydor, which was initially boycotted by the radio stations. However, Freddy hit a nerve with his lines and so "Heimweh" became the most successful single of the year 1956.
In 1981 Freddy Quinn released the album "Country - Get Me Back To Tennessee" And from this album - here´s the title track:

Either I am in E-Z grader mode or these are two great countdowns... My Top 36 songs from the 9/8/84 countdown (absolute faves in bold):Top 10: All of 'em! Ghostbusters, When Doves Cry, State of Shock, What's Love Got To Do Wit It, Sad Songs, Stuck On You, Dancing In The Dark, I Can Dream About You, Infatuation, Sunglasses At Night #11-20: All of 'em! Breakin'... There's No Stopping Us, Missing You, If Ever You're In My Arms Again, Legs, Panama, Eyes Without A Face, Round & Round*, Jump (For My Love), If This It, She Bop#21-30: She's Mine, Rock Me Tonight, Lights Out, The Warrior, I'm Free, The Glamorous Life, Self Control, Alibies #31-40: Leave A Tender Moment Alone, Turn To You, Dynamite, Drive, Let's Go Crazy, When You Close Your Eyes, Cruel Summer, Almost Paradise * You know a song is big when the band is featured in a Geico commercial... 36 years after it made the Top 40. Here's Ratt then and now: BONUS: I was living in St. Louis at the time, and KWK had recently flipped from rock to Top 40. St. Louis now had two Top 40 stations (KHTR being the other) and each station was always trying to outdo the other. If you loved pop music, it was an awesome time having both KWK and KHTR as Top 40 stations.
My Top 25 songs from the 9/11/71 countdown:Top 10: Spanish Harlem, Smiling Face Sometimes, Ain't No Sunshine, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey*, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, Take Me Home Country Roads, Signs, Maggie May #11-20: Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Liar, Mercy Mercy Me, Won't Get Fooled Again, Superstar, I Woke Up In Love This Morning, Beginnings#21-30: Mr. Big Stuff, Riders On The Storm, The Story In Your Eyes, If You Really Love Me, Make It Funky #31-40: So Far Away, Sweet City Woman, Hot Pants, K-Jee * For most of the 1970s, my family lived in Louisville. When mom and dad drove us to Cleveland to visit our relatives, we would be lucky to get a clear station on the AM radio. When we did, it always seemed like we would hear one of three songs: "Alone Again (Naturally)" by Gilbert O'Sullivan, "Kodachrome" by Paul Simon, and "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" by Paul McCartney. I have no idea why... but it always seemed like one of them would inevitably be played. Guess what song I heard returning home from Cleveland to Detroit yesterday? "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey"! So it's my 70s Pick Hit this week:
