The newly crowned US Open winner showed himself exhausted but happy at a media event in Vienna. He now needs a few days break, after a week he starts training with regard to the French Open. "Physically, I´m sure I´ll recover quickly. That takes two or three days", Thiem said. "How it will be mentally, I can´t judge yet. For many years, a Grand Slam title was a long-distance destination every day I stood on the pitch."
Congratulations Dominic, and here´s my "sports"-edition for this week:

In what falls under the category of "What was I thinking?"... how mean was I when I critiqued the 9/24/83 countdown five years ago? My Top 18 songs from the 9/24/83 countdown: Top 10: "Tell Her About It", "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", "The Safety Dance", "Maniac", "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)", "Puttin' On The Ritz" #11-20: "King Of Pain", "True", "Promises, Promises", "Every Breath You Take", "She Works Hard For The Money", "Lawyers In Love" #21-30: "Kiss The Bride", "(Keep Feeling) Fascination", "Big Log" #31-40: "Lady Love Me (One More Time)", "Suddenly Last Summer", "It Must Be Love" Both are great countdowns. The '83 countdown has quite a few good and very good songs but not as many awesome songs as the spring and summer '83 countdowns offer IMHO. This week's '78 show has quite a lot of variety. Apparently, my evil twin brother sat in for me that week with a critique . This time, I have 31 favorites. Add the following as faves for me: Top 10: Human Nature, Don't Cry #11-20: Far From Over, I'll Tumble 4 Ya #21-30: One Thing Leads To Another, Dead Giveaway, Burning Down The House, Human Touch, Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair) #31-40: Tonight I Celebrate My Love, Sitting At The Wheel, It's A Mistake, If Anyone Falls My Top 30 songs from the 9/26/76 (with absolute faves in bold):Top 10: All of 'em! Play That Funky Music, I'd Really Love To See You Tonight, A Fifth Of Beethoven, Shake Your Booty, Lowdown, Devil Woman, Summer, If You Leave Me Know, Disco Duck, You'll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine)#11-20: Say You Love Me, With Your Love, Still The One, A Little Bit More, Getaway, She's Gone, Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang, That'll Be The Day, You Should Be Dancing #21-30: Rock 'n' Me, Shower The People, Magic Man, Don't Go Breaking My Heart, Don't Fear The Reaper, Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel, Let 'Em In, Beth #31-40: You Are The Woman, The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald, Fernando Madness gets my 80s Shooda Dun Betr Pick this week. How did this only get to #33!? James Taylor gets my 70s Shooda Dun Betr Pick this week. For as much airplay as this tune gets, how did this only get to #22?!:

9/24/83:
Asia - Don´t Cry George Benson - Lady Love Me (One More Time) Madness - It Must Be Love Michael Jackson - Human Nature Rick James - Cold Blooded
A perfect song (for this weekend)
This week, "The Kinks" are at #34 with "Don´t forget to dance". And this song fits this weekend in two ways:
After a (coronary) break in March, the Dancing Stars are back again. The dance couples will not be in contact with each other and may not use public transport. A distance of two metres is generally observed, otherwise protective masks are used. The interviews after the dance will be moved to the studio, where the couples will sit separately. Actor Christian Dolezal (who is one of the dancers) is happy that the format continues: "It´s good that something takes place that makes good mood."
And a good mood should also come with this "Dancing Stars"-edition:
9/24/83:
Billy Joel - Tell Her About It (jive) Donna Summer - She Works Hard For The Money (disco fox) Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance (samba) Michael Sembello - Maniac (jive) Taco - Puttin´ On The Ritz (quick step)
"Don´t Forget To Dance" starts with "You look out of your window - Into the night - Could be rain, could be snow ..."
And this brings me to the current weather in Salzburg: "A cold front brought a lot of snow in the state of Salzburg during the night on Saturday. Some of it has snowed down to about 550 metres above sea level", says meteorologist Christian Ortner from the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) Salzburg. "Most unusual is that even in the 544 meter high Bischofshofen (Pongau) two centimetres of snow had fallen. Snow had fallen mainly in valleys in the Pongau and adjacent parts of the Pinzgau as well as in the Tennengau."
Here´s my "home"-edition:
9/24/83:
Air Supply - Making Love (Out Of Nothing At All) Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse Of The Heart Peabo Bryson & Roberta Flack - Tonight, I Celebrate My Love Spandau Ballet - True The Kinks - Don´t Forget To Dance
Yabba dabba doo !
On 9/30/1960, Fred Flintstone – Yabba Dabba Doo ! – was pleased about his life in the cartoon and in front of the television audience. His wife Wilma, his child Pebbles and of course the neighbours, the Rubbles Barney, whose wife Betty and later the offspring Bamm-Bamm became an integral part of the popular culture of the last century. The theme tune "Meet the Flintstones", which almost anyone old enough can hum along (Stone Age), was only used from the third episode of the third season and is a motif from the 2nd season set of Beethoven´s Storm Sonata copied. Until then, the play "Rise and Shine" opened the series.
And here´s my "Yabba dabba doo !"-edition for this week:
9/24/83:
Culture Club - I´ll Tumble 4 Ya Frank Stallone - Far From Over Rick Springfield - Human Touch The Human League - (Keep Feeling) Fascination The Talking Heads - Burning Down The House
An Austrian extra: Will Hofmann
Will Hofmann is a singer, guitarist and producer from Vienna, who is constantly taking to the world. In 1987 he released the single "Stop" from his album "Follow Me":

10/5/85:Bruce Springsteen - I´m Going Down David Foster - Love Theme From St. Elmo´s FireJohn Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band - C.I.T.Y. The Hooters - And We Danced The Power Station - Communication An Austrian extra: RustyRudi Stumbecker (born on 10/16/1969) was the first of five children to grow up in Tamsweg (Salzburg), where he attended elementary school. On the anniversary of Elvis Presley´s death, his mother Berta brought him to Elvis. The fascination didn´t let him go. Newspaper articles and reports by Elvis Presley were diligently collected and glued into a folder. It wasn´t the voice or the singing that impressed Rudi, but the black hair and the sideburns. At Christmas 1977 his parents gave him a guitar, and in 1978 he began his musical education with Hans Neubacher. From 1980 to 1984 he attended the first year of the St. Michael Main School of Music. Afterwards he completed a waiter´s apprenticeship. In late 1990 Stumbecker travelled to Los Angeles with the first self-recorded cassette entitled "Rusty with Band Live.". Here he wanted to take language lessons and also enrolled in a singing school. By chance, a radio maker caught his attention and sent two fast-recorded songs to an Elvis imitator contest in Palm Springs. Among 4,000 candidates, Rusty was elected the "Elvis Imitator of the Year" on 10/3/1991. A contract at the Union Plaza Hotel (now the Plaza Casino Hotel) in Las Vegas and an invitation to Memphis, Tennessee, the birthplace of the King of Rock´n´Roll, didn´t take long. Today, Rusty performs worldwide with his 13-piece Las Vegas band in Elvis suits and reproduces the King´s original hits. And Rusty says about himself: "You can´t copy a human being, we are all unique ! But I have managed in the 30 years that this music of Elvis Presley lives on in the hearts of the countless fans. I´m very proud of that. I am not Elvis, but Rusty - with my own personality as an entertainer !"
Here´s Rusty with his version of "It´s Now Or Never": from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."
