"It´s the central task of social museums to collect in the present", Monika Sommer, Director of the "House of Austrian history", comments on the initiatives of the museums. Institutions dealing with social issues now have the responsibility to record the changes in everyday life as well as the associated challenges. The first object to be included in the collection was a pack of toilet paper. "It was the first reaction to the crisis", says Sommer. The Vienna Museum, for example, is already planning to expand its permanent exhibition with the collection of objects on the theme of "Corona in Vienna". This is to be made accessible in three years in the newly renovated main building on Karlsplatz. What will we then look back on ?

Founded in 1969 with the name of the ORF-Symphonieorchester (ORF Symphony Orchestra), it´s the only radio orchestra in Austria. With around 50 other musicians the Radio Symphony Orchestra covers the world hit with the four Austrian song contest artists Paenda, Cesar Sampson, Nathan Trent and Vincent Bueno. The income from streaming operations is to benefit the cultural catastrophe fund for musicians from AKM and austro mechana. from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

My Top 29 songs from the 5/4/85 countdown (song titles only, absolute faves in bold):Top 10: We Are The World, Crazy For You, Don't You (Forget About Me), One Night In Bangkok, Obsession, Some Like It Hot, Nightshift, All She Wants To Do Is Dance, Smooth Operator*#11-20: Everything She Wants, That Was Yesterday, I'm On Fire, Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Don't Come Around Here No More, Alex F, One More Night, New Attitude, Suddenly #21-30: Along Comes A Woman (single version), Things Can Only Get Better, Fresh, In My House, Just A Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody, Forever Man, One Lonely Night #31-40: Walking On Sunshine, Heaven, Say You're Wrong, Material Girl* Sade gets my 80s Pick Hit this week. Her voice is so smooth. That voice plus that sax line... MMMMMMMMMMM . I was hoping to post the album version with the spoken intro but the mix is different... so here's the single version: My Top 15 songs from the 5/5/73 countdown:Top 10: Tie A Yellow Ribbon 'Round The Ole Oak Tree, The Cisco Kid, You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia, Drift Away, Stuck In The Middle With You, Frankenstein#11-20: Wildflower, Daniel, Reeling In The Years*, Walk On The Wild Side, Pillow Talk #21-30: Neither One Of Us (Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye), My Love #31-40: I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little Bit More Baby* Steely Dan gets my 70s Pick Hit this week. The guitar line grabs me right from the very beginning. And then there's the awesome guitar work in the middle of the song... and then the great guitar solo at the end... so let's just say the guitar work on this 70s classis is groovy : BONUS: It's amazing what the debuts and the "songs falling out of the countdown" can do to my counts. I'm not a fan of any of the debuts on the 5/4/85 countdown (not saying they're bad... just not favorites of mine) while I loved "Lover Girl", really liked "Somebody" and liked "I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore" which fell out of the Top 40 so my favorites count dropped by 3 this week in 1985. For the 5/5/73 show, I only love one of the six debuts while I loved "Killing Me Softly With His Song", "Space Oddity" and "Break Up To Make Up" which all fell out this week in '73. As a result, my favorites count dropped by two for this week's show.

My faves from 05/04/1985 can be found on page 22. I totally forgot that I also had a favorites list from 4 years ago that I could have referred to... oops . In looking back, I also had a Top 29 list with 27 songs making the list both times. Those that didn't: * Made the list in 2016 but not 2020: "Rock & Roll Girls" by John Fogerty and "Missing You" by Diana Ross * Didn't make the list in 2016 but did this year: "New Attitude" by Patti LaBelle and "One Lonely Night" by REO Speedwagon. Now that I have been a Sirius/XM listener for a year, I'm guessing I'm not suffering from REO Speedwagon burnout like I was a few years ago, and I'll hear "New Attitude" on The Groove every once in awhile. It has been a long time since I have heard "Rock & Roll Girls" or "Missing You" on the radio outside of an AT40 show.... they're good songs but they just didn't make the cut this year. I'm due for a 1989 review... and 1970 as well. Maybe this weekend or next week?

The Viennese rock band Excuse Me Moses was first founded under the name Funkalicious in summer 2000 by singer Michael "Paukee" Paukner, guitarist Dietmar "Diz" Schrödl, bassist Gerald Weichselbaum, and drummer Gerhard Bergauer. They released an EP called Deduction in 2002, followed by their debut album, Perfekta, in 2004, but Bergauer left the group a year later. He was replaced by drummer Martin Scheer, and the group changed its style from funk-rock to rock and renamed itself Excuse Me Moses. After the release of two singles ("Summer Sun," produced by Alexander Kahr, and "Not in Love Anymore"), the group released its first album, 1st Last Will, in summer 2007. A new non-album single, "Godzilla Killa (Superhero)," followed in January 2008 (an early version of the song had already been released on the Deduction EP).
From 2007 and from their first album "1st Last Will" here are Excuse Me Moses with "Butterfly Tree":

5/14/83:
Barry Manilow - Some Kind Of Friend Bryan Adams - Straight From The Heart INXS - The One Thing Stephen Bishop - It Might Be You The Tubes - She´s A Beauty
An Austrian extra: Coshiva
She comes from Hallein near Salzburg. Her name is a self-creation and whoever thinks of a positive and light feeling is right. Coshiva´s world is about good vibes. The charming singer-songwriter fascinates her audience with good mood and positive songs. With an easily recognizable voice and her songwriting talent, she accompanies herself on instruments such as piano, guitar, ukulele, mandolin or gitalele. After her first single "Leavin Today" in 2003, which promptly became a radio hit, she nevertheless remained completely on the ground. A major record contract was offered to her, but it ended up in the waste paper, determined by a healthy gut feeling. "I just didn´t feel ready. There were too many questions in the room and in retrospect, I´m grateful that I decided to go my own way first." That´s why her debut album "Thousand Miles Away" and her second album "Butterfly", released in 2008, are still their own artistic possessions - and that´s how it should remain for the time being. In 2014, Coshiva released "Soak Up The Fun", a sunny and lively song that encourages people to fill their own lives with fun and joy. "Soak Up The Fun" was also the UNICEF campaign song against malnutrition in the Third World in a spot with the German NBA basketball star Dirk Nowitzki. And to coincide with Mother´s Day: In 2015, Coshiva became a mother: During the shooting of the music video "One By One", Coshiva was very pregnant and the baby´s belly is clearly visible in the clip. For the musician, it was no problem to go on tour as a pregnant woman. On the contrary, "actually the best thing that could happen to me as a pregnant woman, because there was no alcohol backstage anyway and the band just wanted to eat healthy things."
From her album "One By One", here´s Coshiva with "Sunday Afternoon":
