Some of my favorites from last Week's 1976 Ep. "Shop Around" - Captain & Tennille "More More More" - Andrea True Connection "December 1963 (Oh What A Night) - The Four Seasons "Happy Days" - Pratt & McClain "Rhiannon" - Fleetwood Mac "Strange Magic" - Electric Light Orchestra "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" - ABBA "Sara Smile" - Daryl Hall and John Oates "Shannon" - Henry Gross "Bohemian Rhapsody" - Queen "Let Your Love Flow" - The Bellamy Brothers "Get Up And Boogie" - The Silver Convention "Show Me The Way" - Peter Frampton "Fooled Around And Fell In Love" - Elvin Bishop "Boogie Fever" The Sylvers "Right Back Where We Started From" - Maxine Nightingale "Welcome Back" - John SebastianMy Extra comes from this group from The Netherlands. Although it featured members to come and go, it was based around a trio of sisters named Toni, Betty, and Marianne (Kowalczyk). They had a string of Hits throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. This was their first one, and it was a smash: charting in several Countries including #1 in Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands and #4 in Austria. Mississippi - Pusycat (actually two S's) www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZEPIpTpoPs - You know it just fits the mood! Thank you.

Well, if I combine the "Climax Blues Band" with "1976", then I get a real disco classic: And my face: - and that´s - beside "Mississippi" - another song from the album "First Of All".

Since the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was planned for this weekend, another former contribution from Austria. The Rounder Girls were an Austrian soul-, jazz- and pop vocal trio formed in 1993, consisting of Christine Kainrath, Kim Cooper and Lynne Kieran. After the sudden death of Lynne Kieran in 2013, the formation disbanded. The group celebrated their greatest musical success at the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 in Stockholm with their song "All To You".

My Top 26 songs from the 5/24/75 countdown (song titles only, absolute faves in bold):Top 10: Shining Star, Jackie Blue, Only Yesterday, Thank God I'm A Country Boy, How Long, He Don't Love You (Like I Love You), Bad Time, Old Days#11-20: Sister Golden Hair, Killer Queen, When Will I Be Loved, Philadelphia Freedom, Walking In Rhythm, Cut The Cake, (Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song #21-30: Only Women Bleed, Wildfire, Bad Luck, Magic, The Last Farewell #31-40: Shakey Ground, I'll Play For You, Love Will Keep Us Together, Bloody Well Right*, Trampled Underfoot, The Way We Were * Supertramp gets my 70s Shooda Dun Betr Pick this week. Cool keyboard intro, way cool horns, nice guitar... how did this only get to #35? My Top 21 songs from the 5/28/88 countdown:Top 10: Shattered Dreams, Naughty Girls (Need Love Too), I Don't Want To Live Without You, Together Forever, Piano In The Dark#11-20: Circle In The Sand, Foolish Beat, Dirty Diana, The Valley Road, Alphabet St., We All Sleep Alone #21-30: Wishing Well, Kiss Me Deadly, Angel, Nite & Day, The Flame #31-40: Mercedes Boy, Du Butt, Beds Are Burning, Under The Milky Way*, New Sensation* The Church gets my 80s Shooda Dun Betr Pick this week. The group created the perfect mood in this song, and the bagpipe-sounding guitars in the solo are a treat: Stray observations:* 1975 is one of those consistently very good music years for me... no weak times of the year but no "wow" times either. * Early 1988 shows are among my favorites musically but mid-1988 music was just kinda "meh" for me. On a usual countdown, there are usually less than five songs that I would call bad. This countdown has 12 songs that would be instant channel changers for me. Interestingly, trekkielo has four of those songs on his favorites list. It's funny how he and I are in sync witrh our '75 list but not with our '88 list.

My Top 29 songs from the 5/27/78 countdown: Top 10: All of 'em! With A Little Luck, Too Much Too Little Too Late, You're The One That I Want, Shadow Dancing, The Closer I Get To You, Feels So Good, If I Can't Have You, Imaginary Lover*, Count On Me, On Broadway #11-20: Disco Inferno,, Take A Chance On Me, Baby Hold On, Love Is Like Oxygen, Night Fever, Movin' Out, Baker Street, You Belong To Me #21-30: Can't Smile Without You, Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad, Deacon Blues, Every Kinda People, Dance With Me, Dust In The Wind, Heartless, Jack & Jill #31-40: Lay Down Sally, Sweet Talkin' Woman, You're The Love * Atlanta Rhythm Section gets my 70s Pick Hit this week. This is just a cool slower jam. I can always go for a long instrumental ending (like "Deacon Blues" which has been a previous pick hit), and "Imaginary Lover" has that. This ending could be 30 minutes long and I would still listen intently:
My Top 29 songs from the 5/31/86 countdown: Top 10: The Greatest Love Of All, Live To Tell, If You Leave, I Can't Wait, All I Need Is A Miracle, Something About You, Is It Love, Be Good To Yourself, What Have You Done For Me Lately #11-20: Crush On You, Move Away, West End Girls, Bad Boy, Nothin' At All, Take Me Home, No One Is To Blame #21-30: Why Can't This Be Love, Holding Back The Years, Addicted To Love, Rain On The Scarecrow, All The Things She Said #31-40: Tuff Enuff, Your Wildest Dreams, Never As Good As The First Time, Rough Boy, Kiss, Like A Rock, Sledgehammer*, When The Heart Rules The Mind * Do you ever hear a song for the first time and think, "I hope that goes to #1 but it's so different from everything else on the radio"? That's what I thought when I first heard Peter Gabriel's tune. Loved it then, love it now. This song didn't need a way cool video to go to #1 but that's an added bonus:
