Don't mean to spoil, Doofus67, but I just wanted to make a comment about the Shirelles in the 1961 Countdown. Previously, songs by the aforementioned group were not played on the 60s on 6, so I take it this has been resolved. Hint: They have two songs in the Top 10, and I was anxiously awaiting to see if the songs would be played or bypassed.
Now for the second question: can songs by the Turtles be played now? If this hasn't been resolved, would we have to wait for 1967 and 1969 countdowns until Happy Together and You Showed Me How would be off the charts?
Thanks for anyone who can share any insight.

Thanks again, doofus67, for posting the 60's Satellite Survey Top 40. A couple of points I'd like to bring up.
This countdown was identical to a 1969 countdown played about this time last year, including most of the same extras. The only two extras that were different were the fabulous flipside ("Sing A Simple Song" instead of "Born On The Bayou") and, curiously enough, the #1 song in the UK. At first, I was wondering why there would be a discrepancy, since the countdown weeks were the same. But I did some research in my "British Hit Singles" reference book and determined that THEIR source didn't go by calendar weeks like Billboard did, but by weeks beginning with Wednesday. I presume that last year, Dave Hoeffel and co. assigned a date for the countdown early in the week when "Where Did You Go My Lovely" by Peter Sarstedt was #1 in the UK, and this year assigned the date of March 28, when Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" was #1 in the UK. Oh, and this year, they added the Bubbling Under song by Bobby Vinton, as well.
The minor beef I have with Hoeffel and the staff is my second point. I had a feeling they would be counting down this week in '69 (the first post-Turtles week) and had thought of three excellent ideas for staff pick extras: "Johnny One Time" by Brenda Lee, "Move In A Little Closer Baby" by Mama Cass, and one of my favorite songs of all time, "Goodbye Columbus" by the Association. All of them were in the Hot 100 outside the Top 40 and destined to peak outside the 40. But, inexplicably, they chose the same two staff picks as last year. And one of them, "Nothing But A Heartache", would eventually crack the 40. I use to be under the impression that staff picks were reserved only for songs that peaked outside the 40. (Of course, I love that Flirtations song; I just think it doesn't fit the criteria for a staff pick.)
Obviously, it's not that big a deal, being that I have all three would-be staff pick songs on CD anyway. I just wanted to pose a question I had.

#34 on the above list is Palisades Park by Freddy Cannon.
I really enjoyed voting for my favorite 60s feel good songs. I knew a lot of my picks were long shots, but the list overall is very good.

Thanks again, mitchm, for always filling in my blanks. I heard "Palisades Park," didn't make a note of it, then forgot it. I'd say roughly eight to ten of my picks got played. I'm good with that.
