This is the only major country music host I have seen have anything to say. This is from Country Aircheck Today, which is Lon Helton's publication he either works for or owns: ... (truncated) From the Facebook page of American Country Countdown, which still credits Casey Kasem as creator at the end of each show (yes, Kix Brooks does say his name, even those of Don Bustany and Tom Rounds): "Yes, a big thank you to Casey and all those who were involved in getting ACC started! Rest in peace, Casey... - Nikita, ACC crew." As far as radio hosts (e.g., Kix himself, Bob Kingsley, Charlie Cook, etc.), unless it's been individual disc jockeys, you may be correct. (But I haven't been looking, either, and don't plan to.) Brian

I have very vivid memories of listening to Casey Kasem on American Top 40 Sunday nights on KDWB in Minneapolis. He was part of my Sunday soundtrack throughout my teen years growing up in Bloomington, MN. After watching the CBS sitcom lineup, I would go upstairs to my bedroom and tune in Casey counting down the hits as well as telling stories about the songs and artists.
When AT40 expanded from three to four hours in 1978, it was a great move by Watermark, the show's syndicator. Never again would songs have to be edited for time. It also helped launch the Long Distance Dedication, the most popular feature in the show's history.
But Casey was more than a countdown host,. He voiced many cartoon characters including Shaggy on Scooby Doo. He did many NBC promos from 1977 to 1981 and voiced over thousands of commercials. He also hosted the TV show America's Top 10.
One of the greatest radio voices of all-time has been silenced. I'll always remember the way he closed each show "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars. And keep your radio tuned right where it is.
May he rest in peace.

We all love you and will miss you, Casey! You used your God-given talents to much good and your talents and warmth brought us so much joy. May you forever be at peace in God's presence.

A little late on my condolences to the Kasem family, but I am generally a lurker on this board. I do want to add that I found a couple of tribute vids to Casey. First, Ryan Seacrest has some very kind words to say about Casey: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFY0kEc6zZsAnd Elton John dedicated "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" to Casey: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlmR1H_mPs8 (tribute begins around the 2:16 mark).

Discovered this BBC live interview with Shadoe Stevens barely 24 hours after Casey passed away. Revealing interview with one or two surprises (one is Shadoe being one of a 1000 people auditioned for Casey’s job) and honest admission from Shadoe regarding his own hosting style vs. Casey’s delivery. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0211k13
