What a great clip in the post above! Nice that they included a piece from a CT40...the year end 1993 show and neat that they segued from a Brittney Spears intro to the first LDD because both are from Louisiana. BTW, is that Kerri that is posing with Casey with an award that he won in the photos? Thanks for sharing. That looks like Jessica Simpson (unless you're referring to another picture).

No more reaching Casey! Your legacy will forever be written amongst the stars. Condolences to all family members, those close to him through AT 40, and those lucky enough to call him "friend".
My only hope is that his legacy will not be tarnished in the aftermath of his passing with all the controversy leading up to this sad moment. Time to let him rest in peace.

RIP Casey. Thank you for inspiring me to share my gift of speech with those around me. After all these years of encouraging us all to keep reaching for the stars, you now reside forevermore among those same stars. Hugs and blessings to your family.

Question about something that I heard in the audio montage.
Casey Kasem was talking about The Beatles and their song Please Please Me. He said that the song came out 45 years ago. Was that taken from a 2008 or a 2009 show?

Yes that was taken from a 2009 show because he referred to the chart feat they had which occurred 45 years before. So 1964 plus 45 years equals 2009, and that would have been a couple months before his last show.
^Yes, that photo I was referring to is the one with Jessica (" A Little Bit") Simpson. Thanks. One of my fave peaking at 36 songs ever! I think Kerri is a brunette anyway. Got a little carried away I guess.

God bless Casey Kasem - a real pro. I spent more than 25 years of my life working in the business because of him and Dan Ingram more than anyone, probably.
Not many announcers could make weekends "appointment listening times" for teens and adults the way he did for 18 years.
My condolences go to Casey's family and friends.

My first post here to the at40 boards. I am truly saddened by the loss of Casey. He was the reason I got into radio, and am still in it today. Sunday mornings will never be the same. RIP Casey, you will be missed.

I'm wordless at this point. On Fathers day .I got this sad news from the top of the hour newscast in the middle of this mornings webstream of AT40 the 80's show.
I have to say this man introduced me to top 40 music in the mid 1970's.
My condolences go to Casey's family and friends.Casey was a week younger then my late father which passed away in 2012.Both born in April 1932.
Casey was one of the the sparks to get interested in broadcasting.
RIP Casey.You will be missed.
Casey .You are up there along with Dick Clark and other great radio legends of our time.

Truely a sad day! Our beloved Casey has passed away. Even sadder than the day when he stopped doing the countdown in 2009. I've loved listening to American Top 40 every week since I stated listening to the radio in 1978. Even though I've never met him, he has been my friend for many many years. Even though he is gone, his voice lives on in the shows that he recorded. Rest in peace Casey.

I'm near speechless. My dad died when I was 7. When they started playing AT40 in my area a few years later, his voice was a warm, comforting presence on those weekends in my pre-teen/teenaged years. As much as I'm gutted to lose him on Father's Day, my thoughts are with his family, and I hope they can find peace amongst them in making arrangements for their father/husband/brother.

On Father's Day. I went to visit my father's grave site today, with my mother, and found out not long after that Casey had died.
R.I.P. Casey. We'll never forget you. Or stop listening to you.
