In late 2000 through 2002, Premiere Radio Networks released classic 1980s shows to radio stations, called American Top 40 Flashback. Originally the full 4 hours, the Flashback shows were quickly reduced to the final 3 hours of the show. Only shows with Casey Kasem as host were aired, limiting the shows to 1980-August 1988. In the final year of the show's run, 1980 and 1981 shows were no longer aired. For a list of shows aired during the series, please see one of these lists: By Original Air Date or by Flashback Air Date
In 2006 Premiere released AT40 shows from the 1970s, followed soon in 2007 by AT40 shows from the 1980s. 1970s shows were originally limited to those who were 3 hours long. Eventually 4 hour 1970s shows were made available with the first hour optional. Only shows hosted by Casey Kasem are usually aired, limiting the shows to 1970 - August 1988. Exceptions were made for when Dick Clark and Gary Owens passed away, when Premiere made the AT40 shows guest hosted by them available. Shows are sometimes paired with alternate options ("B" shows): For the 1970s, 4 hour shows (Oct '78 through Dec '79) and 1970-1972 shows are paired with alternates. For the 1980s shows, 1980-82, and 1988 shows are paired with alternates (Info valid as of May 2020).
