On AT40: The 80's 1/31/1987: "Brand New Lover" by Dead or Alive had the second verse omitted, might be a Premiere edit.

For some reason Glass Tiger's Someday got the editing treatment for most of its run, like on the 1/31/1987 show this weekend.

For some reason Glass Tiger's Someday got the editing treatment for most of its run, like on the 1/31/1987 show this weekend. Yeah, that was another frequent Premiere target. I remember some original shows edited it (besides the obvious 1987 year-end). I'll update this post later tonight when I'm home. Update: Debuted on 11/29/1986, and edited on 12/27, 1/10, 1/24, 1/31 (so it wasn't Premiere), 2/7, and 2/14. It was intact on 2/21, its final week in the 40. So it was originally edited in those six shows.

I've brought this song up a few times on the board, but I always thought that they heavily edited "The Power Of Love" by Laura Branigan, but, actually, they were playing the single version of the song for pretty much its entire chart run (as well as when it was a LDD on the 4/9/1988 show). They did once play the album version of the song on the December 5 show (which was hosted by Charlie Van Dyke, so we won't be hearing that one). All that's missing in the single version is the second chorus and the bridge ("The sound of your heart beating"). I guess, since I liked the song so much, it just seemed like it was mercilessly butchered.

On AT40: The 80's 2/3/1979 which I am listening to this afternoon via WVLI Kankakee, IL: The second verse of "Heaven Knows" by Donna Summer and Brooklyn Dreams was omitted. A Premiere edit, perhaps?

Yes a Premiere edit. I heard the original show this morning.

In the 2/5/83 countdown, the #1 song, "Africa" by Toto, was edited down. Regardless of whether it was Premiere or original, if they were so pressed for time that they had to cut out a verse and chorus then it would have been better if they did so in the recap at the beginning of the show, when the full song was played.

I hope Ken Martin's Supersized 2/14/1976 has the full version of ELO's "Evil Woman" since the AT40: The 70's 3 hour 2/14/1976 version has that song played for a little under or around 2 minutes and may have been a Premiere edit if not a Watermark original edit.
