On AT40: The 80's 9/20/1986: Was it me or did Premiere edit out a verse in "Sweet Love" by Anita Baker? Sure enough, it was Premiere. It's there in the original.

On AT40: The 80's 9/24/1983: Regarding "Maniac" - It was played complete in the top 3 recap but the second verse/chorus was omitted (Original or Premiere?) in the #4 position on that week's AT40 chart.

On AT40: The 80's 10/5/1985: The #40 song "Boy in the Box" was shortened - Must be Premiere's hatchet job.

Premiere. On AT40: The 80's 10/5/1985: The #40 song "Boy in the Box" was shortened - Must be Premiere's hatchet job. If it's just the second verse missing, then it's not Premiere. Must be the single version, which was played in all of the original shows. ETA: I used to have the 45 back in the day, which had the album version at 4:29. All the original AT40 shows have a shortened version of the song.

Also noticed for AT40: The 80's 10/5/1985 "We Built This City" was edited omitting the second verse/chorus - Another Premiere edit hatchet job, I guess.

Also noticed for AT40: The 80's 10/5/1985 "We Built This City" was edited omitting the second verse/chorus - Another Premiere edit hatchet job, I guess. Found that comment from 2015 in this thread also, when this show last aired as an A. On that note, next weekend also features a re-airing from 2015 (10/11/1980), and Air Supply's "All Out Of Love" was edited in the Premiere broadcast. To quote from then: The editing of "All Out of Love" on 10/11/80 was awful, whether it was done originally or by Premiere. They skipped right from the second verse to the second half of one of the choruses after the bridge. Likely Premiere; I'll be listening to the original show this week once I get through CT40 from 10/10/1992. ETA: Snuck in a listen to 10/11/1980, and, yep, Premiere edit. The song is intact in the original show.

And I guess Premiere when it plays "Freedom" by Wham! even on the 10/5/1985 AT40: The 80's edits out the second verse and chorus.

On AT40: The 80's 10/13/1984: The bridge chorus ("Life is a dream, the Lucky One, the Lucky One, oh! ROBOT SOUND - Life is a dream, the Lucky One...") and final chorus of "The Lucky One" by Laura Brannigan was omitted. The original Watermark version that I heard on WLS AM 890 Chicago back in the 1984 time had the first verse/chorus plus bridge chorus and final chorus, but no second verse/chorus.

On AT40: The 80's 10/17/1987: The second verse and chorus of "When Smokey Sings" by ABC was edited out - Original or Premiere edit?

On AT40: The 80's 10/17/1987: The second verse and chorus of "When Smokey Sings" by ABC was edited out - Original or Premiere edit? This was an original edit; but it was the first chorus and second verse that was edited.

On AT40: The 80's 10/19/1985: The second verse and chorus of "Communication" by The Power Station was edited out - I guess it was a Premiere edit circa 2009.

One of the shortest #1 songs I've heard, save today's songs, comes on CT40 from 10/31/1992. P.M. Dawn's "I'd Die Without You", in its first week at the summit, had everything edited from the first chorus, second verse, second chorus, and bridge. So the first verse goes into the very last chorus, and the time of the song is just under 2 minutes. How's that for being the new #1 song of the week?

On AT40: The 70's 11/1/1975 "Fly Robin Fly" sounded shortened to me.
UPDATE: Also shortened on AT40: The 70's 11/1/1975: "Brazil" by the Ritchie Family.
