Yeah, the playing of the previous week's #1 didn't last too long. It was played to start every show through 7/22/1989, the one exception being the 3/18/1989 show when Casey started out with #40 (but the top 3 recap was still a staple in these shows). Most September 1989 shows played #1 first, but 9/30 was the last show to hear that. (Haven't listened to all the 1990 shows yet but IIRC, none of them play the previous week's #1.)
And many of the CT40 shows, at least in the earlier years through 1992, start hour 2 with #31. Many of them have an R&D in hour 1. On the flip side with AT40, hour 2 began with #29 quite often.
I snuck ahead and listened to all the shows with Cause & Effect's "You Think You Know Her", and sure enough, it was edited in every single show it was in. Talk about an easy target. It peaked at #24, so it was in hour 2 for a few weeks. The longest song on the charts back then was Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", but that song wasn't edited in any shows I've heard so far, nor should it be.
I'll be listening to the 5/2/1992 show before too long, and I remember "Just Another Day" by Jon Secada was edited in its debut week. But edits aren't totally limited to the first hour.

On AT40: The 80's May 16, 1981 for the #35 song by Steve Winwood "While You See a Chance" the instrumental intro part before the first verse wasn't heard after Casey's intro following the Spencer Davis Group "I'm a Man" drop piece. I think it may or not be a Premiere edit unless it was a Watermark original edit.

This might be a first...EVERY song from #40 through #33 was edited on the 5/23/1992 show of Casey's Top 40. The only song intact in that first hour was #32, "TLC" by Linear, which preceded the top-of-hour sweep. I don't recall hearing a single show where just about every song in a given hour was shortened. Most of that first hour were either debuts or songs falling rapidly down the chart that peaked in the top 3. And, yep, ALL the debuts were shortened...including "Baby Got Back".
Imagine if these shows were being aired right now...some be like...you know. š

On 5/28/88, the quasi-rapped bridge was cut out of Def Leppardās āPour Some Sugar On Meā. Casey outroed it by saying they were ārocking hard and trying a little British style rappingā, which we didnāt get to hear this time, so it must have been a Premiere edit.

Yep, Premiere edit. Not sure why the show wouldn't air because of said riots. And that riot in the Twin Cities of Minnesota dealed with a policeman who got fired - And that was even a few days after Minnesota cancelled its annual 12 days before Labor Day Minnesota State Fair for 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation.
