Wow, two months of Christmas crap. I love the jingle "Magic 96.5".. from Birmingham...
Someone should start a new, fresh thread "Christmas 2011" to hyper-focus on the '11 dropouts.

So on the radio, WRVF is Christmas but it still streams regular programming?

WRVF did actually air AT40 the 80s 11/5/83 show on 11/5/11. This is the 1st time I can remember WRVF stop Xmas music to air AT40 the 80s at its usual time slot.
I argree with lousysmarchweather. "Never" should be an option.

I just received a message from Steve Grantano from Mix 98.9--he said they are not doing Christmas programming this year, and Casey will continue as normal. I just wrote him yesterday, and received a response this morning--rather impressive! For those that are new here, and I love the way our membership is growing--Mix 98.9 (look for stations that play the 80's and follow the link for Monday evening at 8pm). The show has no commercials and lasts about 3 hours and 20 minutes--pretty good stream--occasionally loses a second of streaming.

For them no. Because the station just flipped to Christmas. Just an update KLOU is not giving Casey a Christmas break. Their playing at40 at its regular time.

Two stations that, as of this week, are preempting (which begs the questions: can you postempt something - or even empt something?) AT40 the 70s are WJGH in Jacksonville, Florida, and WODC in Columbus, Ohio.

BTW - I can't for the life of me figure out why a station would play that crap! Do any of you in radio have any angle on this? I would rather listen to puppies being run over - except while I wrap presents, or it's ACTUALLY Christmas. The songs are all so bad, and now they play "made-up" songs like Wham's "Last Christmas" every 90 minutes. The "Ulelog" plays on TV here for 24 hrs for Xmas eve/morning - that's what these stupid music stations should do!

I'll give you what is going on in my area. I'm located in Iowa where I can pick up Des Moines,Cedar Rapids,Iowa City and Waterloo stations. The stations here that go all Christmas/Holiday music are mainly AC or Hot AC stations that badly lag in the ratings books most of the time and they go to holiday music because it's a gimmick that does help their ratings in most cases. After the holidays are over they go back down the pack in the ratings. Now I know this does not apply to all areas of the country but as far as I'm concerned it's all gimmick and it's done by stations that I don't listen to at all,if they want to play all holiday music fine but I'm not listening.

Caseyfan - that's crazy you are in Central Iowa! I was born in Iowa Falls. My brothers and my friend Wahoo went to Iowa State - there are almost enough of us to have a "AT40 Fest" at "The Other Place" in Clear Lake sometime! I have many relatives that can hear the KOKZ shows!
As far as ratings, I wish I could do the surveys of these folks and ask why they want to hear "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" for the zillionth time!
