One of the Premiere AT40 stations played a Christmas countdown that Casey did in 2005 last year. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed these shows as well. They started on the weekend of 11/21/10, but I can't recall which station. I missed most of the first but got to record the next four shows. I hope they replay, I'd like to catch all of the first show. Does anyone know if any station is scheduled to replay these shows?

Yes, that Xmas premption for 2 months on some stations air a pain for AT40 the 70s/80s fans. Next weekend, 10/29-30 could be the last airing of Casey's shows for awhile. When I listen to Casey AT40 the 80s this past Saturday, there was a commerical for 'The Nutcracker' playing in Toledo soon. Already, the Clear Channel stations in most major cities are starting to plug their "Jingle Ball" Concert.
There will be about 2 or 3 more airings of Casey on WHNN and WRVF until they flip to Xmas. WHNN replayed five of the AT10 Xmas shows in 2010. Maybe WHNN will air them again in 2011.
It would be a nice change if they aired the 1971/1973 AT40 Xmas show. However, Premiere would have to do some editing. For instance, I recall Casey tells listeners a few times to send a self addressed stamped envelope, if you want a copy of the Xmas Chart.
Another issue, some songs from their 1971/1973 top 40 list, they could not find a copy of the record. One song was "Snoopy's Christmas" by the Royal Guardsmen. You do hear this song was #52 on the AT10 Xmas show from 2004/2005.

I have all 5 shows recorded from a station that used to plat the 80s AT40 shows and play them on a continuous loop Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I let them play through the night so some of it gets missed and can still seem somewhat fresh each year. This year I'll add the Amped Christian music Christmas shows at the start of that marathon and last years Dees holiday show. I may wind up starting on Dec 23 this year since the 24th is the nfl games for the week and I won't be listening while that's on.

Today, I station in SE Michigan flipped to all Xmas at 5 pm EDT. To avoid giving them a free plug, I'm not telling which station did the format flip.
No loss here, that station does not air any special shows on the weekends.

I was looking at posts from last year and was disappointed to discover that WFMX does the Christmas switch; that was going to be one I listened to when I lose WMXY. I guess I'll start trying out the stations that don't switch over to see which is the best.

I think all Christmas is ok for the last 2 weeks before Christmas, but annoying anytime before.
If I PD'ed a station, I'd play occasional songs from Thanksgiving on with increasing frequency as we got closer. If I was an A/C station, with 2 weeks to go, I'd make a total switch. If I was a Classic Rock station, I'd only do wall to wall Christmas music on the 25th, there aren't THAT many Christmas songs to play in that format. Maybe 60 without a group repeat? 70? 80?

^ We'll also have to pay close attention to those stations that have only joined us this year as well.

I don't mind Christmas songs being played after Thanksgiving ('Tis the season after all) but before Turkey Day is annoying.

Expect a TON of AC stations to do likewise from here on out.

Late October-early November is way to early to switch to a Christmas format.
