They should just make the flip permanent. Eventually that'll be what becomes of some of these insane early birds...

You've got to be kidding me, Christmas music now??? What the hell. Who wants to hear Christmas music now? I still want to believe it's Summer. Can't they wait until Halloween at least? Good lord.
If I have to hear Do They Know It's Christmas for the next 3 Months I may go postal. Scratch that, I WILL go postal.

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard...for the stores that are already putting up decorations and for the station that's playing the Xmas music already. And I thought the first week in November was too early!
As for "Do They Know It's Christmas?", it's more like "Do They Know It's NOT Christmas"!!
Fortunately 100.1 isn't the Birmingham station that plays the AT40 - the 80's shows...though I believe WMJJ (Magic 96.5) has flipped to all Xmas programming in the past.

I am not sure of a thread to post this in other than here. So for now, I will use this space to simply say: They're baaaaaaaaaack! That's right, it's that time again for Christmas Casey shows for those affiliates that choose to play them. And next week, we start with a basic one - Christmas, 1971: www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/12-25-71.pdfIf anyone can recall the most recent extras, feel free to post them.

When Premiere played the 1971 Christmas show the last couple of years, these were the optional extras: Hour #1: "The Christmas Shoes" - Newsong Hour #2: "Do You Hear What I Hear?" - Martina McBride Hour #3: "Do They Know It's Christmas 2004" - Band Aid In addition, Premiere added in "Merry Christmas Polka" (Andrews Sisters), "Snoopy's Christmas" (Royal Guardsmen) and "You're All I Want For Christmas" (Frankie Laine), that were unavailable to AT40 in 1971. This is one of my favourite special countdowns, but I wish Premiere would wait a while before airing it; an all Christmas show the first week of November doesn't seem right. Though they've done this for the past two years so it may be becoming a holiday tradition. (In 2012, all AT40/70s affiliates played it the week before Christmas, which fit much better IMO.)

So the secondary shows for AT40: The 70s (and possibly the 80s) will be Christmas shows for the next two months, or would they be "C" shows?

I'm not sure which is worse, Christmas '71 or the AT20/AT10 my hometown station (Kix 102.9) plays around the holiday season.

Former AT10 affiliate and one of the pioneers of all-Christmas, WNCI/Detroit announces they will flip tomorrow morning. They are usually one of the first. The majority will likely flip in about a week, with the "traditionalists" waiting until Thanksgiving week

For updates about stations in the upper midwest that change to all holiday music you can check out northpine.com aka upper midwest broadcasting. They constantly update when these stations change.

WNCI - 97.9 FM, is a longstanding Top 40/CHR station in Columbus OH. They have been loyal to that format since I was a teenager and I have since hit the
Big 5-0. They are renowned for consistently coming in as one of the all-time highest-rated Top 40 stations in the nation. One of my communications college
professors always referenced them, when giving examples of how to successfully compete in the very competitive mass media industry. They are truly iconic
in the world of radio broadcasting. I think the Detroit station you were referring to is WNIC - 100.3 FM.
