For specials the biggest one was the #1 hits in chronological order. I also created the top 80 hits of 1973 (vs the original top 40). And of course the Christmas countdowns where I put in the audio AT40 couldn't find when the show was produced. Does that count? I've toyed with the idea of doing the top 80 of '71 and a full top 100 of 1979, but have been too busy with other stuff. For Supersizing, I'm not sure. Maybe a dozen of those? There appears to be an appetite for those since my stations streaming numbers skyrocket when I announce one of those is being played. Ken - I vote for the full top 100 of 1979, that would be one awesome show. I know we all appreciate the work you do to bring us these specials that honor Casey's memory so well. A big thank you! I second that. Love 1979's music, and many hits that charted higher didn't make the top 50, which Billboard's year-end chart was used. The cutoff dates were much earlier than usual, and coupled with running the decade-end special the following week. AT40 did a top 100 of 2009 over two weekends, then ran the top 40 of the 2000s the following week, leaving four weeks in between regular countdowns. I don't think AT40 wanted to do that back in the late 1970s.

Optional extras: 1979 "Take Me Home" Cher "Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)" The Jacksons "Roxanne" The Police "Heart Of Glass" Blondie 1973 "The Cisco Kid" War "Wildflower" Skylark "Stuck In The Middle With You" Stealers Wheel Take Me Home was back-to-back in the Hot 100 this week with I Want Your Love by Chic. Later this month Cher is coming to Tampa----with Chic as her opening act. That being said, there's a reason my parents and cousin are going and I'm not. Between the OE and the Top 3 recap, which I liked when the shows were knew but try to avoid now because for the shows where I can't remember what #1 is I don't want to potentially be spoiled, I'm trying to decide if it's really worth it to seek out Hour 1 this week.

It's another Supersized AT40 this weekend. There are some hefty edits in this weekends AT40 show which have been removed for this weeks presentation on WTOJ. Sunday morning at 9 AM. While extending these unfairly edited song gems, I also wouldn't mind if you'd cut 'The White Knight' down to a more tolerable 30 seconds or so. Man, that thing is excruciatingly bad... LOL! I'm totally with you on that one. At least "Convoy" had a catchy chorus When you consider how many CB-themed records must've been rushed out that year... for "Knight" to be the 2nd-biggest to cross over to Pop is mind-numbing.

And yet it wasn't the worst. Ever heard "CB Savage" by a Rod Hart? It actually reached #67--probably higher on the Country chart.

#23 Country is where "CB Savage" peaked.

Well, hooray for them in any case -- that '73 chart is fantastic, and if it were the "A" show I'd probably listen to it 3 or 4 times this weekend.

Great job on the super-sized '76. There are plenty of songs that make us cringe now...but to portray a countdown and year without them would alter our history. We often reminisce our past as better/smarter/hotter than it really was. Older friends who were waxing nostalgic about how much better pop music was at their wedding in October 1974 were mortified when I showed them a top 20 including I Honestly Love You, Clap For the Wolfman and Earache My Eye !!

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 3/5/77 2nd Guess - 3/9/74
1974 maybe due, but 3/5/77 hasn't been dusted off for 12 years.

There's an amusing parody of "Convoy" called "Car Phone" which was recorded back in the 90's by a duo called Sheeler & Sheeler-It appears on "Dr.Demento's 25th Anniversary Celebration" which was released in 1995 by Rhino Records.
