AT40: The 70s ... This Week's Show

Jason, why doesn't WQMA run the AT40 70's show? I like AT10 and dont want it to go anywhere, but I was just curious if the people running the station even knew the show existed or not.

That might happen someday. I'm definitely aware of it. It's very new, and wasn't available when we picked up AT10.

We ran AT40 Flashback for years. Unfortunately, Premiere cancelled it.

If it might happen in ADDITION to AT10, I'd be fine with that.
Other's I don't want to miss AT10 on WQMA, since it became a regular to listen on Saturdays and the stream sounds really nice.
I don't think it would be a very good idea to replace AT10 with the 70's version of AT40, even WQMA is an Oldies station.
AT10 has a perfect mix for a wide variety of stations, from Oldies to current and Lite AC. The 70s version of AT40 is more specific and not that enjoyable to listen for 3 or 4 hours.

First, yes...I'm referring to the shows made available to "terrestrial" radio stations.

Second...while I agree with Radioman that WQMA shouldn't drop AT10 for AT40: The 70s, I disagree with his statement that the 70s shows don't make for enjoyable listening. While I was born in 1974 and grew up with AT40 more in the 80s, I've always enjoyed listening to the 70s shows as well. Not only is it fun to hear "classic" Casey, it also is a good way to learn some of the music I don't otherwise know.

Just to clarify, I was never suggesting DUMPING AT10 for the 70's AT40, I was just simply wondering if adding the 70's show was ever considered since the station enjoys putting radio shows on a lot. Might I also make a request for Backtrax USA 80's and 90's while I am on the suggestion bandwagon? ;D

These are all shows I'm fans of. And as I've stated previously, I'm a big fan of the best national oldies shows airing all weekend.

The feeling isn't mutual. Kathy from "Backtrax" (the shows producer) doesn't like the idea of a smalltown AM station running the show, and has prevented past attempts at signup. I was unable to work my magic when the show was with Premiere, and we were running other Premiere programming. I imagine the situation is the same over at X Radio but I haven't inquired recently.

If it helps, that's just about all of the shows I know of that we can't sign up for

We can sign up for Wolfman Jack 60's (which XM carries) and Wolfman Jack 70's/80's (which XM doesn't) if we pay a fee (wanna work together and start a collection, anyone?) ;D

We can sign up for Tom Kent which has been another past request that I've been looking into.

Does anyone know if there are other stations besides kool 108 in Mineapolis that are airing AT40 from the 70s?

Next weekend (3/3-4/07)'s edition of AT40: The 70s will feature 3/6/71.

As I stated in another post, WBBG in northeast Ohio is also broadcasting AT40, but not online, so you have to be in the area to hear it.

I Had curious Question. Will The AT 40: The 70's be syndicated through out the Nation? I sure love hearing the oldies again. Does anyone have that answer?

The show is syndicated nationally from Premiere Radio Networks. You might want to bug the program director of your local station(s) to see if they'll pick it up. Never hurts to let them know you want to hear a new show.
