If not the John Lennon tribute episode, my money goes on December 8, 1984 for next week.
The episodes that were played since just before Halloween were:
1986 - on October 29 1983 - on November 5, in sync with that same day as the original airdate 1985 - on November 12 1987 - on November 19 (though a rerun) 1981 - this past weekend. 1982 - this coming Friday.
My money goes on 1980 or 1984 next week. If 12/8/1984 was a sub-hosted show, then I can bet the John Lennon tribute show will occur on December 10. And 1988 is ruled out because it was from the Shadoe-era.
And I do have one question: How many times has a 1987 episode aired since they started airing "AT40: The 80's"? And what is it about 1987 that's preventing Premiere from scheduling those episodes?
What 1987 episodes have aired thus far in the run?

OK so this week's '82 show means that since July, we will have heard '80, '82, '85, and '86 at least 3 times (1985 has been played 4 times), and '81, '83, '84, and '87 twice. The question now is which of the shows played only twice will be played in December? Or do they play one of the other years a 4th time? Going on Premiere's track record, '83 and '84 are among the most played years, so unless one of those is the Top 100 special, we should hear them both once more. And if part 1 of the Top 100 isn't played until the weekend of Dec. 31st, there's one more regular show we will hear.
I am guessing that we are done with '81 and '87 now. '81 especially is the least played year, it's been played 5 times in 2011, and they would have to cram another show in in the next few weeks after we just heard one. And is '87 the year-end show? Still looks like it probably is...

ponderousman beat both me and wahoo to the punch this week....lol Ok, in the 80s as someone said it is between 80 and 84. Actually I think it is not because if they played a show from 1980, they would be doing something they have never done before and that is play 3 straight early 80s shows. So the longest 80s drought will come to an end. As for the longest drought on SXM which is 1973? Well, 2 weeks ago SXM played 77 while Pre. played 78...last week SXM played 70 while Pre. played 71 and this week SXM is playing 75 while Pre. is playing 76. So will they shadow each other for a 4th week? Ah, no. I was going to predict that they would with Premiere playing a show from Dec. 1979 but that would leave hardly any shows to play the weekend of the 17th/18th. So I think Premiere will hold off on 79 until that weekend while SXM will play a 79 show next weekend....lol
80s..........12/8/84 70s..........12/14/74 FYI, I had this show on my mind when I made predictions last week SXM..........12/8/79

I will go with 12/13/80 next week for Premiere. But if they don't play it, there's always a chance they can play it the following week since 12/13 is caught between the weekend dates. I remember Jimmy D. gave us the entire December schedule last year all at once. I hope he does that again this year, or at least can PM to us if we're interested like me.

I am guessing 1984 for a 4th straight week, but I do think that if they throw a 4th 1980 show in before the end of the year, this would be the week. The John Lennon show--it's the only show from Dec. 1980 that Premiere has played so far, and was played back in 2007 (which as we've said before, is almost like they haven't played it yet). This week really threw me. Would not have guessed another '76 show on Premiere or a '75 show on SXM. So let's go with the same three dadgum years that I guessed last week. Guess originality is not my thing... 70's: 12/13/75 80's: 12/8/84 SXM: 12/8/73 Looks like they played 12/8/73 two years ago, but they have to play '73 again sometime.

70s..........12/14/74 FYI, I had this show on my mind when I made predictions last week You are correct; next weekend's show is indeed 12/14/1974. However, next week's 80s show is 12/13/1986.

wtf.....are they going to go the last 3 months minus one week without playing 1984? They haven't even played it the most times this year. And the year that HAS been played the most times......1986. Huh?

I am going to beat dukedeb to the punch and throw out predictions for the weekend of Dec. 17th. How about:
80's: 12/17/83 70's: 12/15/79 SXM: 12/16/78
I am also going to make an early prediction that the year-end special for the 80's will be 1987 (nothing new there), but how 'bout 1975 for the year-end special in the 70's series (it would be the Top 40 only of course)? Only one '75 show since June...

Only one '75 show since June... If the 80s year end is a full Top 100, I'm thinking next week will be 12/20/80 instead. If it is that '83 show, then I don't think we'll get a full Top 100 this year (if that happens, I'm thinking one more weekly show after the '83, and then a Top 50). Premiere has yet to have a year where the last weekly show aired wasn't also a last weekly show of whatever given year, and I don't see them breaking that trend this year (actually, I don't see them ever failing to do that).

wahoo, you beat me to the punch alright....lol Ok, I am still surprised even a but disappointed in this week's choice for the 80s. If you take away the 4 shows from 1988, the 4 shows from 1987 if they are playing the top 100 of 87 and the 3 weeks devoted to the top acts of the 80s and the aforementioned top 100, that leaves 41 weeks for the 7 other years of the decade. So that's 6 shows per year with one exception. That is not going to happen thanks to this 7th show from 1986. IMO, no year in any series should be played more than an average of every other month. And it could get worse because I am predicting a 7th show from 1980 since the 5 times played years...81, 83 and 84...don't have any shows to be played next week IMO.
As for the 70s, while there are 7 regular shows in the 80s with a date of 12/20 or later (with only 8 years to work with), there are only 3 reg. shows dated 12/20 or later in the 70s despite having all 10 years at thier disposal. This is because starting in 1983, AT40 played the top 100 in just one week. Those 3 shows are 12/26/70, played last year, 12/20/75 and 12/22/79, the only one not played so far and thus, my predicted show. On SXM, I am predicting their pattern to continue for a third week. The last 2 weeks, they have played a show that is a week later than the show they played last year. With all this analysis, I should get.........................1 right.....lol
80s..........12/20/80 70s..........12/22/79 SXM..........12/16/78
And I will get in a punch for the following week by predicting that the 70s will play the 12/22/73 show which is a Christmas special. With that weekend featuring Christmas Eve and Day, I don't see how they can avoid playing a Christmas special.

So dukedeb, we are in agreement on the SXM show...and to elaborate, I am going with 12/15/79 since the 4-hour 78 and 79 shows Premiere seems to be playing are ones that have been played by SXM in the last year or two. 12/15/79 was played in Dec. '09, so I am going to guess that one (and of course I'll be wrong).
If they do play 12/20/80, I believe they archive songs are replaced by Christmas songs. The only time between Oct 1978 and Nov 1981 that 60's and 70's #1 songs weren't played.

I hope you guys are right about the 70s show being 1979; I'm eager to hear a show from that year again.
