wahoo, I guess when we agree on something, that is a sure thing. When we don't, we are both wrong.....lol Yes--I made some headway with my second guesses this week--had '75 and '85 for both of those. Looks like SXM came through for us... |

Ok. I am not exactly leading off the predictions since there have already been many predictions for next week and the week after that. Anyway, a clue was given for the year end shows on Premiere so I will choose the pair of years that have not been played yet. It just so happens that in the 70s, that is the same year they did a Christmas show before that so I am predicting they play consecutive shows. Alas, there is no connection between the 2 musically so I don't think it's a stretch to say they will play both shows. Of course I'm sure Casey says at the end of the Christmas show that next week, they will be counting down the top 40 of 1973 which will actually be the case now. And as for SXM, there's not much to choose from if they want to go deeper in the month without playing a Christmas show which is unlikely considering all the pre-70s songs on it. After the 16th which they are playing this week, there is the 19th and 26th in 1970 but the latter was played last year and they played 1970 last month There is the 18th in 1971 but they played that year last week. Then there is the 20th in 1975 but they played that year 2 weeks ago. That leaves 76, 77 and 79 but that would mean 2 straight late 70s shows. So I'll just go with the latest possible date and overlook the late 70s double.
80s..........Top 100 of 1983, first half
70s...........12/22/73
SXM...........12/22/79

80's: 12/26/87 (alternate is #100-51 of the Top 100 of '83)
SXM: 12/22/79

My guesses for New Year's weekend:
70's: 12/29/73 - Top 40 of 1973
80's: 12/31/83 - #100-51 of the Top 100 of 1983
SXM: 1/4/75 (OK so not really a prediction here - this one should be a gimme putt)

Ok, I just realized that you actually got 2 out of the 3 shows this week though one of them was on the wrong series wahoo. Not officially predicting myself since we already know one show barring a major screwup by SXM and a clue was given for the other 2 which you have listed. Back it for real next week to start the new year.

I am going to the prediction thing again. I am assuming that SXM is through playing thier year end countdowns. By the 21st, year end shows will be kind of out of season shall we say!!! So next weekend will be the first one of 2012 with all regular shows. I hope....lol
80s....1/24/81
70s....1/22/72
SXM....1/20/79
80s series I considered 1/23/88 but they played that in 2008 and 2009. Third time can wait guys. 70s series I considered 1/23/71 and 1/21/78 but they were both played in 2010. SXM just finished a late 70s-mid 70s-early 70s run the last few weeks so the late 70s are up next if that pattern continues.

OK dukedeb...if you are going to throw out predictions, I will raise you.  80s: 1/24/81 70s: 1/21/78 SXM: 1/22/77 So basically I am predicting a reversal of the '77 and '78 shows that SXM and Premiere played a year ago...I hope that doesn't happen, but it would make a lot of sense if it did. |

Ok, a bunch of predictions about 80s shows so now that all the shows have been announced for this week, I will make mine....I am assuming the 1979 show on SXM is 1/20. Better be or I will be shutout in my predictions.....lol
As for next week, I think SXM's now 7 month plus drought for 1973 will come to an end. Premiere? They have always played an early 70s and early 80s show in Jan. So since they have yet to play either this year and have only one week left to do so, that's what I am predicting. All the late Jan shows from 71, 72, 81 and 82 have yet to be played. So which 2 will it be next week and will the 10 years apart streak continue? Yes to that part of the question......

Here we go...going to ditch '81 this time to avoid another bad streak of some sort. Not sure what SXM will do, so a shot in the dark there. Possibly two early 70's shows next week?
80's - 1/26/85
70's - 1/30/71 (chart date)
SXM - 1/31/70 (just kidding), let's go with 1/27/73

i have oldies 98 in philly. on saturday mornings. 3 hrs unless before sept of 78. But you never know what decade they will play. some weeks its the 70's others its the 80's which last year they started doing the 80's

wahoo, you sound a little disappointed on the other thread about the 1973 show on SXM. But you predicted that so why the disappointment? As for me, I also predicted that and for the second week in a row, it saves me from being shutout in my predictions. Let's see if I can nab some Premiere shows....lol

Last year, they had a pattern of following or preceding an 81 show with an 87 show and I considered 1987 seriously for next week. But it is a new year so I think that pattern will change...hence, the 1988 show prediction. I am surprised they have never played the show in which the top act of the 70s (by some people's calculations anyway) got his first #1 song but they have not so they are due for 1973 as SXM was and so that is what I will go with. SXM's show date is usually the earliest in the month and a lot of times is in the preceding month on the first weekend and 1/31/76 was considered seriously but they played that show before. We'll see. ok, wahoo, your turn...nice going this time, you got 2 out of 3 right.

Predictions for next week's shows...well it looks like dukedeb and I agree on two of the three:
80's: 2/6/88
70's: 2/3/73
SXM: 2/7/76
So, do we get our first '88 show of the new year? I am going to guess we get it sometime in the next 3 weeks. Not totally sure about '76 since SXM typically plays the show date preceding the current date.
And yes, I was disappointed, but not surprised that they are playing a '73 show. Mostly because late '72/early '73 is my least favorite period in the 18-year original Casey AT40 era. Not sure why, but the shows during that 5-6 month period seem to take the most effort to get through. But...they have to play them, so I will be a devout fan and listen in!
You are giving me too much credit though--SXM is the only one of the three I got right!
