No idea of who the hell is that Joe Jonas, but I put my hand on fire that is a celebrity kid from Disney or so who is gping to talk about barbies and kents rather than the 40 singles.

I heard the last two hours. The fan calls were from teenage girls for Joe Jonas. This AT40 was not designed for anyone over 30 years old.

You have to remember, AT40 is for a younger audience. So Selena and Joe fit right in. Most of the network commercials are aimed for the younger listeners. I am probably the oldest teenager that still listens to AT40 with Seacrest. LOL.

You know, I record this show and play this for my workers each weekend and they seem to enjoy it especially the females. At the same time I'd rather listen to the classic versions with Casey Kasem and Shadoe Stevens.

The thing is that I still listen to AT40 because I was a great listener when Casey and Shadoe and think it´s a crime stopping listening. But I do prefer Rick Dees .
When we were younger and teens AT40 targeted us, but the quality and level is class , no for idi*ts. No fans, no celebrities no female target. I wonder why cant be done that same way. Rick Dees does it, the same way, targeted to everyone.

jcaragon, you hit the nail on the head regarding Dees. I think he's wisely slightly revamped his shows to fill Casey's void since Casey retired in 2009 to play to the audience left behind when Casey stepped down. He even started an AC show.

I didn't know I'd ever say this but Rick Dees is the better countdown host as of now. However, I reserve the right to change my mind if Mike Kasem is even better on his new show.
Apparently, Ryan was chosen to appeal to the younger crowd--I mentioned to my college freshmen and sophmore students that I was a fan of Casey Kasem and most of them didn't even know who I was talking about. When I mentioned Ryan is the new host of AT40, they ALL knew what I was talking about and many of them really liked him. To them, I guess, Ryan is like Casey was to me.

Actually AT40 was designed for the record buying audience in general, but when they tried making it more for the radio listening audience that's when the quality of the show began it's downturn.
As far as the current show goes, it's hard for Ryan to follow Casey's foundation when you gotta make two versions. It make chart stats completely meaningless. So the show takes on the form of a supermarket tabloid rag.
I still listen today because people haven't stopped buying hits. The CHR version best reflects what is popular because it's the closest to the sales chart.

It's from the cast of "Glee" (Amber and Kevin) this week and it was as far as I know unannoucned! This is bull. AT40 has been giving us guest hosts on average every other week within the last couple of months. I'm not a happy camper...

I wonder who covers Ryan in his daily show . I am listening to those 2 guys right now. I never saw Glee on TV , dont need that kind of thing, but it looks like all those guys use the show for promoting themselves.
The show has been launched on Nile FM some weeks ago, all because Ryan, and it has been only once Ryan so far. Bring back Rick Dees on Nile FM!!!!

I don't know what Ryan's schedule is, but this is the fifth straight week they've alternated between him one week and guest hosts the next. I guess it was inevitable that "Glee" actors would eventually host (though none of their record-breaking number of Hot 100 chart entries has ever made AT40), but I think it would be much more interesting if Jane Lynch, in character, guest hosted instead.
