Demi Lovato or Lobato or whoever will sub host AT40 next weekend. It's Demi Lovato (at #23 on this week's chart.) I find it odd how AT40 nowadays announces guest hosts in advance; I don't recall Casey or Shadoe doing that. They also didn't replay outtakes and bloopers made by the guest hosts as Ryan sometimes has. As I understand it, there won't be guest hosts later this summer when Ryan goes to London as an Olympics correspondent; apparently, AT40 will go to Britain for a couple of weeks.

Shadoe did announce a week in advance that Debbie Gibson was guest-hosting on June 24, 1989, if I recall. Casey Kasem, not a chance. Not even when Hall & Oates guest-hosted in late July 1988. Also, what is it with all these guest hosts in recent weeks? Ryan must be really busy as of lately, it seems. Maybe he's preparing for the Olympics or something?

So so Demi Lovato, she has not a voice for radio, its like my niece doing AT40. Apparently she didn't have much to say, or left a lot of time to fill. I looked at the playlist and it had 11 non-countdown extras, which to my knowledge is the most of any regular AT40 program, from 1970 on.

I am listening to this weekends shows now. First off, I have no idea who this person is. I had to google her. She's 19 and probably has absolutely no appreciation for the history of this show whatsoever. I hate guest hosts like this. I hated them in Shadoe's era and I hate them now. Hollywood celebrities does not equal good radio host. I think most if not all of us who listened to the old shows just want a competent fill in when the host isn't there. I know, thats not what Premiere thinks the masses want and maybe they are right but it is so aggravating listening to this crap. Something else I absolutely hate; why can't they just say they are filling in for Ryan Seacrest this week while he is away on business, vacation, etc? Tell what that business is if they feel it's necessary like what happened with Casey Kasem back in the day. This drivel of "He's walking Randy Jackson's dog" "He's getting his spray on tan" "We're glad you're gone, I'm taking your job Ryan, ha ha" is just plain stupid.
Off my soapbox now.

Demi filled in for Spyder Harrison's Sirius Hits 1 Weekend Countdown a couple of weeks ago and I didn't listen to her performance on AT40 yet.
If it was anything like her last countdown hosting duty and after reading Paul's comment it sure sounds like it is, I can safely say Demi will never be a full-time radio DJ.
Her voice and the bad jokes about the host being gone added nothing to the show. I haven't seen her work on X-Factor; however, on radio she lacks a personality to draw people in. She reads a script without feeling and passion. It was one of the worst hosting job of the year on SH1 Hits Weekend Countdown. Now, take Karmin and it was totally different. They sang bits of songs on the countdown and it seemed like they wanted to do the job. It seemed like Demi didn't even want to be there. She repeated the same line about Spyder four times. She has no idea that you don't repeat "catch phrases" in radio, add variety in your delivery. MTV Weekend countdown has been going with these "stars" co-host approaches the past couple of months. The good: Gavin DeGraw & Jesse McCartney The bad: cast of Teen Wolf & Dallas.
I still prefer having a professional DJ doing a show rather than a "star", kinda like what Hollywood Hamilton's Weekend Top 30 has done the past two weeks going with "The Latin Diva from 103.5 Sacramento" Patty M.... & Lucas from KDWB (M/SP). No screw-ups and bad jokes about tied-up in a closet with those hosts.

I gave up. Listening to local fans whine about the Rays on WDAE is much more entertaining.

And she wasnt even excited when listeners made questions about her last album, releasing curiously in 2 week time or so. That is a way of promoting a star and an album via a radio show.
Where are those Jimmy Fallon and guys from that same style?
And even Nelson and Debbie , in the Shadoe era , were professionals compared with this local mini diva whoever.

I liked Fallon's guest hosting; I can't say I'm all that impressed with most of the music/TV/movie stars that have filled in. Most of them aren't bad per se, just unimpressive, often sounding like they don't have any feel for the show and are reading a script that was just handed to them. (And to whoever writes such a script, the "Ryan's not here because he's at the tanning salon"-type jokes have been old for years and do not get funnier with each retelling.) I have no professional radio experience and I think I (or, much better, the people on this board who do have radio experience) could do a better job than some of them, though I'd probably include too much chart data and musical info for the powers that be. In short, I'd do it just like Casey did.

I agree, I don't understand when Seacrest is off for a week that mysterious female voice ,who by the way can be heard on many clear channel stations and on stations in Canada bad mouthing him. Even the guest host bad mouth's him too. Demi said in one part of the show Ryan is looking for a job on monster.com. Was that a promo?

Whenever it is time for one of those barbies subhosts I think she is going to ruin the show and talks about whatever but the 40 singles. The last time that other girl did it a record was beaten, the more at40 extras played, because she had nothing to say. More of the same this time?
