Plagiarism alert... While driving and listening to this past weekend's 1980 show, I heard Mark Goodman introducing "Into The Night" by Benny Mardones. He said something like this: Its success catapulted Mardones into the limelight, but he spiraled into substance abuse that resulted in his being dropped by his label Polydor Records. Though he eventually overcame his addiction, Mardones produced no other hits during his career. When I got home, I looked up Benny Mardones in Wikipedia, and here is what was noted about "Into The Night": "Its success catapulted Mardones into the limelight, but he spiraled into substance abuse that resulted in his being dropped by his label Polydor Records. Though he eventually overcame his addiction, Mardones produced no other hits during his career." I am not sure who writes the intros for Mark, Nina and Alan to read but you would think the writers would at least try to hide that they are lifting info word for word from Wikipedia? The ironic thing is he actually did have another hit, Into The Night, in 1989. And trying to cash In, Benny Mardones rerecorded for another label. It was this version incorrectly played by Casey lite. You can't make this stuff up.

I think several of their errors they made over the years come from inaccurate wording on some songs' Wikipedia pages. They also probably just read the first paragraph or so and don't even bother to look at that Charts section for the correct Hot 100 peak, as they also have the tendency to say a song peaked at a certain position but it was on another chart that isn't the Hot 100.

Even though 9-3-83 is close to the air date of 9-6-24, I think they will go with 9-10-83.

If they can put their heads together, next week will be the third new chart in a row.

If they can put their heads together, next week will be the third new chart in a row. At least this probably ensures that we won't get 10/1/88 which has been replayed several times. Same for 9/12/87. Now just please don't play 9/19/81 the following week....

It would be really nice to see either 1982 or 1984 come next. The show has largely avoided playing those years in September. 1984 makes more sense, as it's been longer since we've heard it, and also because 1982 is a good option for Premiere that same weekend.

Next week it'll be all about 1985!
Can't really say I'm surprised they chose that year even though it's only been around a month and a half since they last featured it, while 82, 84, and 87 still haven't been played since then. However I'm at least glad they're avoiding 10/5 and 10/12 as I think they were both done in recent years.
As for the last week of the month, either 82 or 87 will work fine for me.

Here's something I haven't been able to say for a while. Looking at the chart selections for the first three weeks of September, between SiriusXM and Premiere's "A" shows, we get six different years.
There's a small chance this could continue into the fourth week of September, however that week could also give us the same two years as the third week. Time will tell.
