This weekend's VJB40 countdown was mostly from Billboard's 1/18/86 list, with one exception: Corey Hart's "Everything In My Heart", at #34, was replaced by Heart's "Never". While I like the Heart song better, I wish they wouldn't do this and don't see the point of it. They did play Corey's "Boy In the Box", from the same album, when they did an October 1985 countdown which included it.

Hi:
I would like to know, if anybody records this show on a weekly basis? I have a couple of episodes here and there and wanted to complete my collection. This is a nice alternative to my AT40 collection.

Even though 1984 was announced last week; they are currently doing a not AT40 from 1989. This was mostly drawn from the 1/21/89 Billboard chart, then counted down by Shadoe on AT40. Interestingly, the Radio & Records chart for that same week was used in the debut of "Casey's Top 40."

This weekend will be the last time I'll be able to listen to the Big 40 countdown, since DirecTV will be switching to SonicTap this coming Tuesday.

Don't know what chart they are using for "this week in 1987". "You Give Love a Bad Name-Bon Jovi" is #40 and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now-Starship" is #39. From what I see, they were never in the Top 40 at the same time (checking BB, CBox, ARC and RR)

From what I see, they were never in the Top 40 at the same time (checking BB, CBox, ARC and RR) Based on the 5 minutes I listened to the show, my guess would be the January 31 Billboard chart. It matched up to songs 13-11. Knowing Sirius/XM, they probably dropped two songs higher up, added the Bon Jovi and Starship songs at the beginning, and pushed everything up two spots. My guesses for the deleted tracks are "Jimmy Lee" by Aretha Franklin and "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Corey Hart, since it seems every single of his is skipped over besides the obnoxiously overplayed "Sunglasses At Night."

I can take or leave the Corey Hart song (they probably will play "Never Surrender" when they do summer 1985), but cutting the Queen of Soul? Inexcusable. But last week SXM got things right; they did the entire 1/28/84 Billboard top 40, with all the songs that Casey counted down that week on AT40, minus LDD's of course.

Next week's countdown.... ? They didn't say! It will probably be 1980, since it's been a while since they've done that year. Unfortunately, I'll have no way of knowing, since DirecTV is dropping SXM this week, which also means no more Saturday morning AT40 for me, either!!!

They played both of these tracks. Were you able to catch what ended up being deleted? Or worse, did Sirius/XM completely make things up as they went along, ala Rick Dees?

This week's not AT40 is my favorite year; 1980. They claimed the week was 2/9 The 2/9 week was used this week, only Sirius/XM chose to use Cashbox's chart. IIRM, they deleted Styx's "Why Me" at 19 and moved everything up accordingly, so the chart actually started at #41!

Next week is 1983. I hope Premiere doesn't do that year too, but it is possible.

Sweet, next week's Casey lite...1981 Good; I was hoping for that or 1989, since they won't be duplicated by Premiere, which just did 1981 a couple of weeks ago.

Sweet, next week's Casey lite...1981 Hopefully the jocks won't make any snarky comments about the songs of this period, like they have a tendency to do when they feature 1980 or 1981.

The only problem w/not AT40 is they always, always use Billboard for peak positions, but the weakly chart is just made up as they go along. For example, their show and Premiere was identical except they deleted Vandenberg and Steel Breeze then they throw in a overplayed song like Beat It instead. They also moved the live version of Alright into the top 10? They don't always cite Billboard for chart peaks; they referred to Culture Club's "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" as the previous week's #1 hit, which it was on the Cash Box chart that this show was mostly based on (with several alterations), but it only got to #2 in Billboard, and that was two weeks later. And some of the substitutions here were pretty random. This countdown included the Weather Girls' "It's Raining Men", which gets played on 80s on 8, but never made the Cash Box or Billboard top 40.
