That's strange as I was fully expecting 1980. At least 6/12 is a new chart. And we'll be hearing "Always On My Mind" again, just the Willie Nelson version.

If 1980 were to follow 1982, there's still an off-chance it too could have the "new" 6/14 chart. (The alternative is that it'd be 6/21, whose one previous airing was in 2016.)
As for the double dose of "Always on My Mind", Big 40 seems to love putting 1982 and 1988 back to back at this time of year - this will be the fifth time they've played the two versions on back to back weeks (excluding possible specials, the other four are 2013, 2014, 2017, and just last year), and the second that the order was 88 then 82.
The funny thing about that is that it's actually pretty easy to set up, as Willie's chart run overlaps the Pet Shop Boys' completely, plus extra, in terms of calendar. Both debuted on the same week in April (4/10/82 and 4/9/88), and the Pet Shop Boys fell out on 6/18/88, while Willie was sitting at his #5 peak on 6/19/82 and stayed in longer past that.

Meanwhile for the 90s channel we get 1993 this week, making it what 1975 and 1988 are for Premiere: replaying a year we got just a month or less ago. If they had to do 1993 again in June I'd prefer that they'd have waited just two weeks and then we could hear my high school graduation week.

I don't remember which year it was, but in one of the above mentioned cases the song was at the same position in both countdowns (I think it was #21). If they had to do 1993 again in June I'd prefer that they'd have waited just two weeks and then we could hear my high school graduation week. Not only was that year played just four weeks ago, but one of the three intervening weeks was a special, so only two regular charts were played in between the 1993 airings.

I don't remember which year it was, but in one of the above mentioned cases the song was at the same position in both countdowns (I think it was #21). That turns out to be 2014 - 4/16/88 and 4/24/82, which can't happen on the Premiere side, as that week was hosted by Keri Tombazian. (As it happens, 4/23/88 and 5/1/82 - where both moved up to #16 - is doable, however. That hasn't happened here as 5/1/82 is yet to air here, but 4/23/88 was part of the 2017 "Always" pair.) Also, something else I noticed - and this goes more towards their longer-term scheduling habits (or, towards how much they DON'T plan longer-term, depending on your POV). In 2013, 82-88 aired in that order not only for the "Always" pair, but also both the previous time both years aired (March) as well as the time after (July/August). In 2014, the order was switched for the "Always" pair, and then switched back again for the time after. (So, 82-88 in February, 88-82 in April, then 82-88 in July). In 2017, 82-88 did air in that order in the time before the "Always" pair (February, the pair coming in April), but they weren't paired together after (82 was followed by the one-hit wonders special; 88 didn't come back till August) It's just last year, and so far this year, where they haven't been paired together except for the "Always" pair.

It occurs to me as well that this latest shakeup of the ten-year rotation means we might be in for a repeat of 7/1/89, which would be a crying shame for the same reason that 6/4/88 was -- in both cases, 2020 was the first-ever airing from that month and then to air the same exact chart in 2021...utter nonsense. Let's keep hoping for a special that weekend.

Also if you thought them going with a 2020 repeat next week was bad, this week on Pop2K they did 2009, but instead of 5/30, which would have made way more sense, they went with 6/6, which they used last year. Good going. And then this weekend, they went with 5/31/2008! Has any of the decade channels gone backwards with the chart dates before? It would have made way more sense to go the other way around so this is kinda baffling.

Next week's Casey lite won't repeat Premiere...1989!

^Of course it won't. Premiere doesn't offer 1989. Also why couldn't they have waited a week as 6/17 was done just two years ago? Also when is 1980 going to happen?

Maybe 6/28/80 the last weekend of the month? And then there's always 7/5/80 which can be replayed for the umptyth time (at least it doesn't duplicate a Casey show).

6/28 would be little better - as while 7/5 has been played three times already, if 6/28 got picked then this would be its third. Nevermind that it was done just last year!
(Which, of course, is why we should expect that to be what happens...)

This is why I'm hoping they have a July 4th special. At least it'll more than likely push most of the years down so we won't have 8/19/89 for the 50th time later down the line.
Of course thanks to those 1989 Fox 50 shows, I'll be getting a double helping of 40 out of the 50 songs next week.

Meanwhile, June 1989 now has the dubious distinction of being the only month in the decade where every single week has now been done twice.
September 1980 is close, with only 9/13 having a single airing (and the chances of it being repeated this year go way up if we do get either 6/28 or 7/5 soon), but no other month has more than two weeks each having double airings.

Actually, as long as they wait 10-12 weeks for 1989, we could get the new 8/26 chart or the 9/2-9/9 charts, neither of which has been heard in a long time. Of course, I'm still hoping for the special to bump 1988 ahead one week.
