Now that we got ourselves a list of the unused charts, here's what I hope (emphasis on hope) June will look like:
6/4: 6/7/80 6/11: 6/11/88 6/18: 6/15/85 6/25: 6/24/89
Yes I know the last two charts have been used already but I doubt they will wait that long to play either year. Plus another reason I'm hoping 1980 goes first because it was just announced that Premiere's airing 6/4/88 that weekend. Obviously they don't pay attention to that but as I said, emphasis on hope.
Perhaps one of you can send that list to the higher-ups so they can actually use it.

Perhaps one of you can send that list to the higher-ups so they can actually use it. That would require knowing who's actually in charge of producing the show. I don't have the slightest idea who that might be. I think several of us would have already been in contact by now if we did.

I'd say there's a good chance those two weeks will be repeat weeks. Assuming that 1980 and 1988 are the next two to go after 1984, that would leave only 6/21/86 as a "new" option for 6/18. For 6/25, it'd be 6/28/86, or 1983 comes back quickly again with 6/25 (which I don't think is likely). And, of course, the pickings are similarly slim for 7/2 (either 1983 or 1988), so doing a special there would be just as well.

If they were to do a special for the 4th of July weekend, I wonder what they will do. I did see some polls for voting for the top summer songs of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, but they're the only decade channels that are doing that. If they do their own list, I'm hoping it's not one of those sloppy ones where it just looks random. As for the theme, maybe the top American artists of the '80s?

In 2017, the one previous time they did a special near July 4, it was 40 Most Awesome One-Hit Wonders of the 80s. For whatever that's worth.

Of course, their definition of one hit wonders matches that of many other radio and other outlets: not necessarily one chart or top 40 hit, but "one hit that we constantly replay".

So not only is it a repeat of last year, but a Premiere duplicate as well. At least 1980, which is more than likely next, will be new.

As much as some of us wanted the reverse to happen, looks like it won't happen. 1988 hasn't been played since March anyway so I doubt they would have wanted to wait any longer. Honestly the only good thing I can see coming out if it is with the possibility of there being a special countdown soon, then everything would be pushed back down a week, so there's a good chance that 8/20 or 8/27/88 will be featured next time that comes up. The image is broken sadly. I'm assuming it's to convey your emotion over hearing about next week.

You know, the guy who had a #1 song three years after his "one hit." Not only do I dislike specials that have no basis in actual data, but that one still sticks in my mind as one that royally screwed with the schedule. If they had stayed on course, we'd have gotten shows from early August 1987 and early September 1988 that year. Four years later, we're still waiting for both. Next week's free Casey lite...1988 Not surprised at all. First they ignore the entire month of June 1988 for eight straight years, then we get the same chart from that month two years in a row. If anyone needs me, I'll be penciling in 8/13/88 and 10/22/88 on my calendar as well.

Of course Glenn's second--and biggest--hit came in 1990, which according to the 80s on 8 research department apparently means it never existed.

What makes it even more frustrating is how that year still has the most unaired charts and they had a good opportunity to knock off another but they didn't. There is a chance that this is a mistake like for a couple weeks ago and it was meant to be 1980 but I am not counting on that at all. At least as I mentioned in my previous post, there is a chance of either of the last two weeks of August 1988 will come up if there's a special that pushes the usual schedule back a week.

If it did. then that would just be sloppy on their part, which they have been quite a few times already. Also if you thought them going with a 2020 repeat next week was bad, this week on Pop2K they did 2009, but instead of 5/30, which would have made way more sense, they went with 6/6, which they used last year. Good going.
