Next week's Casey lite; as predicted 1980!!! That likely could be next weekend's countdown year on Premiere. Update: This weekend's Premiere show is from 9/20/1980. Since they don't do extras, I'll predict that there'll be snarky comments and at least one "remember, this was a year before MTV began."

Just curious, who predicts these? I always see "as predicted", but never see the prediction.

Just curious, who predicts these? I always see "as predicted", but never see the prediction. LVK usually predicts them in the AT40 next week predictions thread, calling this show Casey lite. Incidentally, this weekend's SXM 8 show also can't be duplicated by Premiere, as it was from the Billboard chart of 10/1/83, which Charlie Van Dyke guest hosted. Another difference is that they played the version of "The Safety Dance" in which the word "safety" is spelled out at the beginning, which neither Casey nor the VJ's played back then.

Ah the misinformation continues. Just heard Alan Hunters intro for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton's "Islands In The Stream". The details about that song were correct but then he said "Kenny and Dolly would go to record a Christmas album in 1985 that contained another Bee Gee penned hit, "Real Love"." Close but not quite. They did do a Christmas album but it was in 1984, they did do a song called "Real Love" in 1985 but it was not on the Christmas album nor was it written by a Bee Gee. Don't know who does their research but they suck!

The goof of the week that sticks out for me was calling "Total Eclipse of the Heart" Billboard's #1 single of the year for 1983, when it was in fact "Every Breath You Take", also in the countdown.

Next week's not AT40; 1981, CRAP, likely duplicate of this week's Premiere! It might be the following week; they could use the 10/24/81 chart. Still, most of the songs will be the same. Meanwhile, Rick Dees doubles up on October 1988 this coming week, though at least it's a different chart.

Tired of the factual errors on Casey lite:
1. Word in Spanish was from Elt's 21st album. Wrong. Don't You Wanna from the 1980 show a few weeks back was from 21 at 33.
2. Said EC was a one hit wonder. Wrong. Had two more Top 40s including the top 10 I'll Be There.
3. Claimed How Can I Fall saved Breathe from being one hit wonder. Wrong. They had 5 top 40s; three reached top 10!
Considering this is supposed to the the VJs decade, they look like idiots continuing to make these mistakes.
At least the music was decent. The synth-drum machine barrage of 85-87 was subsiding.

Casey lite was at it again this week saying Hold On Tight was ELOs last hit.
They reached the top 40 three more times (two of these reaching the top 20!)

Next week's Casey lite; as feared 1986! This isn't quite a duplication of Premiere's Casey show (unlike last week's 1981) as it uses the Billboard chart of 10/25/86, one week after last week's AT40. Still, only four songs are different. Ugh...the piggybacking continues next week with 1982. I'm starting to wonder if this is coincidence. At this rate we may have to wait for them to do 1988 or 1989 to break the cycle.

I have a feeling they are doing this on purpose figuring that if you want to hear that combination of songs, you can listen to the VJ countdown and it's no different than hearing the Premiere show. But there is a difference, may be the same songs, but there's no Casey.

Casey lite at it again; said Pointer Sisters, Ruth, June, and Anita are just about to start a tour.
June passed away in 2006.

Casey lite at it again; said Pointer Sisters, Ruth, June, and Anita are just about to start a tour. June passed away in 2006. When the Pointers perform today, they still use the Pointer Sisters name, but it's typically Ruth, Anita, and Ruth's granddaughter, Sadako Johnson. Anita has sometimes had unspecified health problems and when she did, Ruth's daughter Issa Pointer filled in for her (thus making three different generations of Pointers on the stage.) This week's chart is the exact same one as we heard Casey count down last week (10/30/82 Billboard); they could at least have skipped ahead one week to 11/6.

Next week's not AT40, could be another Premiere piggyback; 1984. Probably not this time; Premiere is doing 1980 this week, and 1984 next week is unlikely as the closest corresponding AT40 from that year was guest hosted. So this should break the cycle for at least one week. (Premiere could reverse-piggyback by doing 1984 two weeks from now, I guess.)
