They're definitely back on track with featuring "new" charts. Not only is this weekend's 1984 chart new, but the next one for that year should end up being in September, another widely unused month.
In other good news, their holding off on 1987 makes it a bit more likely that we'll get a rare show from October of that year.
I'm hoping that 1987 and 1982 are featured the last two Fridays of July, and that 1988 waits until at least the second weekend of August. We'll see.
At least this show is finally trying to make an effort, unlike a certain 90s countdown that is once again repeating a chart used last year.

Looks like they'll also be mirroring one of Premiere's offerings for next week as well. With that I'm predicting 1982 for the last Friday of July and 1986 to kick off August.

The 1981/1987 back to backs are interesting here as this foreshadows the Premiere A show from next week, but doesn't offer the same thing at the same time. Meanwhile we get 7/25/87 from SXM then, which matches the Premiere B show but does at least offer us the chance to hear the songs if we can't find Casey's presentation at a convenient time. Hopefully this means that 1981 and/or 87 won't be heard until at least late September, and we don't get yet another rerun of 9/12/87 and 9/19/81 in consecutive weeks. (7/11/81 has also been done by SXM several times, so we did avoid that.)

The streak of new shows continues. And if they repeat the 1984/1981/1987 sequence in ten weeks, those will also be all new charts.
I never thought I'd ever say this, but 80s on 8 is doing a far better job of picking charts lately than Premiere.

I haven't done this in a while, so here are my predictions for the last week of July and all of August. I'm going to assume none of these aired after 2015.
7/31/20 - 7/31/82 8/7/20 - 8/9/86 8/14/20 - 8/13/88 8/21/20 - 8/24/85 8/28/20 - 8/27/83

I'd be even happier with a later August 1988 show, but I don't think that's going to happen this year.

This weekend is the first July 1987 show in four years, and sets us up nicely to get rare shows from October and mid-December of that year, so long as they continue to space them out by at least ten weeks.
In other good news, no 8/7/82 this year!

Something I forgot to mention earlier. In June, I pointed out that Under The Milky Way got played on the Big 40 for the first time despite having charted for five weeks. Well, last weekend the same could be said for Since You've Been Gone. And I have a suspicion that a third such song may be heard in August.

Between "Early In the Morning", that 6 1/2 minute "Hooked On Swing", and the inevitable album version of "Do I Do," this show just might rival the late 80s countdowns in terms of length.

Next week it'll be all about 1988, the same chart date as the first Shadoe Stevens show on AT40. Also that makes 3 out of 5 for my predictions.

I think your next prediction will be correct as well, given the recent streak of new shows. 1985 is the next year due and 8/24 would be new, while 8/31 has been done multiple times. As I previously said, I wish they could have waited another two weeks or so for 1988, but at least we get something new from that year again. There really was no better option for next week, as 1983 or 1985 would have been repeats. I'm also thinking that if they continue to wait ten weeks between 1988 shows, we might finally get one in January (the only month of the 1980s yet to be played). Lastly, looking at last year's airings, it seems they aired 8/2/86 then waited eleven weeks to air that year again. Since we got 8/9/86 this year, hopefully they will follow the same pattern or we'll get another 2019 repeat in October.
