Something I forgot to mention earlier. In June, I pointed out that Under The Milky Way got played on the Big 40 for the first time despite having charted for five weeks. Well, last weekend the same could be said for Since You've Been Gone. And I have a suspicion that a third such song may be heard in August. Which song are you referring to? This weekend's countdown will feature I Don't Want To Be A Hero. This too has never been played on the Big 40 despite charting for five weeks. Without doing any research, I don't know if there remain any other five week charters that have not been played. I believe the biggest gap of unplayed shows remains 12/12/87 through at least 1/30/88 (and possibly one week beyond that).

I enjoy listening to the Big 40 Countdown, and appreciate the recent excellent selection of chart dates avoiding repeat broadcast in line with prediction or recommendation by laura An only issue for me is big noise constantly generated only during Mark Goodman is speaking. Do you have the same issue?

Do you have the same issue? Thank you! As for the noise, maybe it's because Mark is recording from home or something? I could imagine he's been doing that since the pandemic started.

8/24/85 it looks like, meaning that's my 4th out of 5. Hopefully 1983 is after that!

I am just wondering if SiriusXM notices and plans to improve the issue.

Yes, I agree. I am just wondering if SiriusXM notices and plans to improve the issue. Yeah I know, they're not going to bother. Laugh it off. Anyway, over on 90s on 9, it's like they're avoiding 1990 and 1993 like the plague or something. 1990 hasn't been done since May and 1993 in 4 months. What gives? Also to Michael, about R. Kelly, my guess is because he was a featured artist on his respective songs and not the main one, so that's probably why he had been kept in. Besides, he's not heard too much on either song anyway on those Pop2K shows, so I don't think listeners would have minded all that much. Also yes, I don't have an account on PMB.

Hopefully 1983 is after that! 1985 will be yet another new show and is a chart that many fans expected to hear from Premiere as well, but that won't be the case. I'm not really happy with Premiere's selection for next week but glad that the two shows will be different. 1983 does seem very likely for the following week. It won't be new, but that was the case with the last 1983 show too. The next likely years are 1980 and 1989. 1980 would also be a repeat chart and Lord knows we don't need another August 1989 featuring.

If 83 is featured on Friday, August 28th, then 80, 89, 84 and 81 should follow in September. Has the Big 40 Countdown ever done a Labor Day special? That would change the order above. This weekend is the 10th different year played in the last ten weeks (83, 85, 80, 89, 84, 81, 87, 82, 86 and 88).

I think they did a few years ago but Labor Day weekend is still a little far off. I don't see any voting for a special countdown on Sirius XM's website like I've seen various other channels doing so there at least won't be one of those types of specials.

That lineup for September would be great except for 1980, which would be repeat from two years ago. However, I think I would accept that to keep the rest of your predictions accurate. I don't remember if they ever did a Labor Day special, but their specials aren't usually announced very far in advance. I'd rather hear a regular countdown myself, but a special would actually improve the odds of new charts as the year progresses.

What if 1980 ends up being featured next Friday while 1983 is up for the first week of September? Would both of those charts be new?

What if 1980 ends up being featured next Friday while 1983 is up for the first week of September? Would both of those charts be new? Neither 1980 or 1983 would be new for the final week of August. However, 9/3/83 has never been played, so playing 1980 first has an advantage (except for the fact that Premiere is playing 1980 that weekend as well). If we assume the remainder of jgve1952's predictions are correct, the 1989 chart would be a repeat, though from seven years ago, and the 1984 and 1981 charts would be new. To me this is a good plan. While I'd rather see a later 1989 show, there's no way to shuffle the years without getting a triple repeat somewhere.

Next week it'll be all about 1983. It's been two months since they did a repeat chart. At least I got all my predictions correct!

I am just wondering if SiriusXM notices and plans to improve the issue. I advised SiriusXM Listener Care of this problem on August 15 and received their interim reply. I am looking forward to the solution hopefully by the next week's broadcast of the 1983 show.
