What a weekend Unfortunatelly, my 70s channel stopped due to inactivity (I only have XM online...) I am not really sure how much I missed (I guess I missed everything inbetween the first show of 70's and 3/3/79), cause my wma file is not in a good condition, and I don't want to mess up with my computer at the moment when everything seem to work I got 80s alright (by now *keeping fingers x-ed*) Good job, Shannon!!!

No problem Nenad, I've got you covered! If you need them let me know. ;D
I would just like to point out thst after all the XM Grandstanding about needing cue sheets or this can't be aired, or it may be delayed. After all that, what does my Skyfi show for the title:
American Top 40/Casey Kasem (year)

Well, I was only 6 years old in 1970 when AT40 debuted and two members, Stew Hill and Bill Hergonson, of the original team drove from Los Angeles to El Cajon to hear the initial broadcast on KDEO, 910 AM of what they had worked so hard on.
36 years later, I know how Bill and Stew felt then as I listened to the debut of XM on the 70's channel. I was so into the 70's channel I never checked the 80's one until around midnight LOL! Even though I could pull about any show off of my bookcases and listen to it, you just can't describe 'hearing it on the radio.'
I do have to give credit to some people who really helped me pull off the restoration of the 1970 era shows. First, Rob Durkee! Rob, bless you for having the foresight to archive all of these shows for your book material. Secondly, Cap'n Billy Hergonson. Yep, he's alive and well and gave me so much insight into the engineering of the early shows. Alan Kaltman for more of the history and perspective of AT40. Lastly, to all of the rest of you like Pete, Steve O., Steve C., Rich, Rick, Ron U., Kermit, Ryan, Jeff, Ev and on and on (I'm sure I forgot someone) who have let me experiment with all of the different techniques and methods for trying to extract yet a better sounding generation of shows for all of these years, let me borrow your shows, sheets, etc..
You know the cool thing is that AT40 is not about any one of us but that it is what has brought us all together. So, while it is humbling for you guys to thank me and give compliments and all....I really thank you for everything!!!
Shannon
p.s. back to generating more shows LOL....so busy mastering I'm not getting to listen like the rest of ya!

Shannon - you are correct. Even if you could pull out a show anytime, nothing like hearing them "On the radio" -- I understand your El Cajon analogy, very true since you are part of this.
If I am not mistaken, unlike the 80s shows which were re- played on XM and Flashback, isn't this the first time a 70s show was played "on the radio" anywhere since Dec 79?

Does anyone know offhand when the legendary drumroll was used to introduce #1?
The show from Nov.11, 1980 had it but the one I heard from 1977 did not.

> From the time XM started until Dec 2003, Kiss WAS Kiis from LA. Really? That I didn't know. I did fib a lil bit, having KIIS is nice but not enough....although It may have been nice to hear some of Ricks last morning shows....really I wanted Z100-NY. If that had been added back then, i'd of subscribed in a heartbeat. Course as soon as it ceased to be a terestial station, I would of canceled the sub too.

Alfred,
It's good to see you back. I knew that AT40 coming back to XM would bring you here.

Does anyone know how to prevent XM Radio from going off due to "inactivity"? I followed the direction and set my computer to the correct cookiees setting, but it still wasn't enough.

I had really struggled with this during the XM marathon weekend... (although it's too late now, for a future reference) I used software called "System scheduler" by splinterware.com which you can program so it runs activities such as opening/minimizing/maximizing (your browser) windows, typing and clicking so it makes your computer active. On my laptop where I recorded 80's I had no problem at all - it worked flawless... 70's channel on my standalone comp was a nightmare... although I didn't get the timeout message - it was more like "this channel is not available, please select a new one".... Simillar configurations were used, the only difference is on my laptop I have XP Home and standalone is XP Pro...
