JasonWQMA: Maybe you give it a second try ? Sometimes they might think having a big deal on hand, but it might not happend for some reason. Okay, lets do it. It has been at least a year - probably more. I'll see what I can do and report back. It might be MG Kelly's company that produces this show. If so, we just seem to have a poor relationship with them. We've negotated a couple times on "American Hit List" but it never works out. We picked "Little Walters Time Machine" instead for that slot, then they took over producing that show, and terminated us immediately.

May I ask why you guys have been denied from airing it? I have never known a station to run it, and I just wonder why it is such a hard to come by show. It's been so long I can't remember 100%. I think their excuse was to protect a possible future Memphis, TN affiliate in case there ever might be one, and they'd object to us airing it despite being 70 miles away and unheard there. In other words, they'd rather be on a station in a larger city and we are in a smalltown. There are only a couple syndication companies that have strong objections to us airing their programming. They tend to be the lesser known obscure ones.

I tried to obtain more information for WQMA a year or so back on this show but it's one of the very few programs we've just been denied from airing.
Our goal is to provide all of the best national shows all weekend long in one place.

Hi,
There are already individuals online that have done this. I can't remember exactly where I obtained this (I didn't originally collect/produce it) but I have a multi-DVD set containing the top 300-500 mp3 songs from each year in the 80's. I'm not sure if this comprises every top 100 hit from each year, or just every top 40 hit and extras, etc. I just know it's a really nice music collection that really makes my iPod jump. I also have the top 100 from each year from the mid-1950's through 2001 or so as a separate set.
Another collection I have contains the top 200-300 R&B songs from several individual years in the 80's.

Our station has a VERY good online stream and airs a number of oldies shows basically all weekend. It's 64k mp3PRO which sounds like 128k mp3 if you have the mp3PRO codec installed. See the schedule at www.q1520radio.comDick Clark, Casey, Dick Bartley, Dr. Demento, and more. Hope this helps, Jason

Does anyone know of other stations that have yanked the show, at least temporarily? What are they doing with Dick's oldies show, "Rock, Roll and Remember"? Guest hosts? Reruns? Hey Scott! ;D I've read this site for ages. I finally registered. Great to see more activity here lately. I can answer your question about RR&R. United Stations continues to pump out the shows with Dick and no mention of Dick Clark in any hospital or recovering from a stroke. Haven't even seen a cue sheet mention to affiliates. They've presented a few "special" shows like an A to Z special that aired two weekends ago that could have been recorded/played back anytime. They went from the Animals to the Zombies throughout music history. A really good show actually. This last weekends show was Valentines Day themed. Could have been recorded in any year. I don't quite know if they are rerunning shows, splicing together old shows, or going through a library of "special" timeless shows. They have been good tho. I can't see any oldies station even considering dropping Dick now... In fact, it's made me think more about his weekday music calendar feature. You can listen to Rock Roll & Remember in CD quality stereo sound online at www.q1520radio.com every Sunday at 1pm eastern if you have broadband. I am very very proud of the sound quality of our oldies stations webstream. If you follow the directions on site including installing mp3PRO, the station can sound just like a CD (A lower quality stream is available for dialup users.) We're a perfect place to record a lot of great weekend shows... You can also catch "American Top 10 With Casey Kasem" at that same site Saturdays at 9am eastern.

Surprised no one has mentioned this at all here.
Supposed to be a TV special airing this month with Ryan Seacrest featuring live music performances and artists like Avril discussing how AT40 has impacted their career (while a nice thought and tribute, honestly, probably very little - her career impacted much more by MTV than a 6am airing of her song on the radio...)
Still I plan to watch.

What's a good radio station to listen to Casey Kasem on? American Top 10 airs Saturday mornings at 9am eastern on www.q1520radio.comThe broadband stereo stream in mp3PRO is CD quality. Connect your computer to your stereo and have fun.

Jason, would WQMA be picking up a 4-hour at40 80s show if its available? id hate to see any of the other weekend shows you have go because I like them all, but id love to see that on wqma. There just aren't enough hours in the weekend, are there? I'm closely watching the new Casey shows from Premiere.

Yes. Now there will be a 70's version, and an 80's version available for AM/FM stations weekly. I haven't heard the details yet - such as the 3 vs 4 hour show. It would be GREAT if they made the number of hours a local station choice and supplied all 4 hours of the program. This would be very easy to do with todays CD/FTP delivery and there is almost no downside. There might be some stations that either want to air all 4 hours of the program, and might even go so far as to pass on a 3 hour edited version of the program.
I know I wouldn't want to ok a 3 hour show when a satellite competitor was airing a complete 4 hour show. I always like to air programs better than pay sat radio does it.
Sounds like once we get the 90's version out there we'll be all set. ;D

I think XM has more goof-ups airing syndicated type programming than small market AM stations. These types of reports don't seem uncommon. Same on the talk programming side.

The show is syndicated nationally from Premiere Radio Networks. You might want to bug the program director of your local station(s) to see if they'll pick it up. Never hurts to let them know you want to hear a new show.

These are all shows I'm fans of. And as I've stated previously, I'm a big fan of the best national oldies shows airing all weekend. The feeling isn't mutual. Kathy from "Backtrax" (the shows producer) doesn't like the idea of a smalltown AM station running the show, and has prevented past attempts at signup. I was unable to work my magic when the show was with Premiere, and we were running other Premiere programming. I imagine the situation is the same over at X Radio but I haven't inquired recently. If it helps, that's just about all of the shows I know of that we can't sign up for We can sign up for Wolfman Jack 60's (which XM carries) and Wolfman Jack 70's/80's (which XM doesn't) if we pay a fee (wanna work together and start a collection, anyone?) ;D We can sign up for Tom Kent which has been another past request that I've been looking into.

That might happen someday. I'm definitely aware of it. It's very new, and wasn't available when we picked up AT10.
We ran AT40 Flashback for years. Unfortunately, Premiere cancelled it.
